Cannot determine device link table

Recommended Posts

Hi - adding a new 2477D, and I am getting the "Cannot determine device link table" error when trying to link.  And a "Failed to add device, reason 9". Any ideas?  Thanks!

Here is my level 3 log:

Factory rest (airgap 10s, hold button 3s) then tried re-linking.  Same error.

I've tried to link it by 1) Link Management->start linking and 2) link management->Link a controllinc and manual address entry

Both had same error.  What is the third method?

Hold the button in util the beeping stops or changes patterns. I don't think that is long enough.

What do the instructions in the manual say?

1. Start linking after holding the set button.

2. Type the address, including dots between the octets (pairs of alphanumeric characters, e.g, 5D). Use Auto Discover.

3. Type the address, including dots between the octets (pairs of alphanumeric characters, e.g, 5D). Select a device from the list of devices.

For a factory reset

   pull out the air gap

wait a few seconds then push in the air gap and hold until you hear a long beep. Continue to hold in the air gap until the beep stops.

When you let go of the air gap your load should turn on.

Tried factory reset as described above.

Tried these three linking methods:

1. Start linking after holding the set button. (actually it only works if you start linking THEN press set button)

2. Type the address, including dots between the octets (pairs of alphanumeric characters, e.g, 5D). Use Auto Discover.

3. Type the address, including dots between the octets (pairs of alphanumeric characters, e.g, 5D). Select a device from the list of devices.

Still giving the same error.  Does anyone know what Failed to add device, reason 9 is?

What version of the ISY firmware and UI are you running

Must have been another range issue.  I temporarily moved a 2635 nearby and then I could link the 2477.  Once I finished programming it I removed the 2635 and it still works fine.  Apparently insteon needs better communication for linking/programming over day-to-day operations.

I'm always surprised when there is a range issue, I have over 50 insteon switches/devices in my house - they are never more than 10' from the next one.  And on both legs of the power.

Firmware 4.6.2

UI 4.5.1

As Gary suggested you should update your UI to 4.6.2.  When the ISY firmware and the UI are not the same version there can be unforeseen consequences.

Before updating your UI be sure to clean out your java cache, including all applications.
