I notice that the store as an upgrade price for the ISY-99i/IR from the ISY-26. What happens to my ISY-26 once I upgrade? Does it no longer function? Do I have to return it? What is the deal?

Thanks

Thanks Michael

Do you have any idea on this works with respect to customs charges between US and Canada? I am trying to figure out the total cost for me to upgrade vs buying new from Aartech in Canada.

Thanks

Hi Peter,

There should be no duty levied on ISY. However, there will be GST charged on [the total cost (including shipping) converted to $CDN].

The larger problem/cost is a brokerage fee levied by both UPS and FedEx. The driver will drop the package off at your door, and then a few weeks to a month later you will receive an invoice in the mail! I'm not sure how this fee is calculated, but it can be substantial! You could call UPS/FedEx to ask about it.

If it is shipped USPS, then is will be delivered by Canada Post, who will charge only $5. When shipped this way, Customs may open and examine it, and in some cases may hold it while they send you a letter asking for more information about it. [This usually only happens if the original paperwork has not been properly completed.] So, much cheaper than the other carriers, but also takes longer to arrive, and worst case can take substantially longer.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the update on the purchase side of the discussion and you feedback about using USPS - Canada Post is what I am use to doing when I order things form the US. So if UD can ship USPS, I have a good view of the delivery costs to upgrade to the ISY-99iR/

I am also wondering about the return side of the equation. Have you ever had anyone from Canada return a ISY-26 as part of the upgrade to the ISY-99i/IR? I assume there would be no duty or customs charges on the 'returned' product assuming this is marked as a RMA. Who pays for shipping of the returned product?

Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks

Peter Green
