Strangest Z-Wave devices?

I nominate the Dome "DMMZ1" as one of the strangest Z-Wave devices commercially available, even stranger than Fibaro's Eye of Sauron.  The DMMZ1 may also be the only intentionally lethal product approved by the zwave alliance.

Yeah that eye ball sensor was a real WTF when I first saw it a few years back. The Z-Wave mouse trap seems a little odd at first blush but considering it alerts you of a captured and toasty critter remotely I can see a few people buying it.

I havent had a mouse issue yet but it would be nice not having to climb in the attic to check the traps I have set up there.

I have quite a few of fibaro's motion sensors. I love the look.

Do they really look like that evil eye ball from the movies? When you have time can you post up a real image of it activated.

Man! That product alone could convince me to get a ZWave board for my ISY!

I have a voll infestation for 2-3 years now and nothing else works on those [censored]]s. The solar buzzer stake technique in the ground worked for the first year to chase them away but I left it in over the winter and they adapt to it.

Over a hundred websites claim to show you how to get rid of volls, but they are all  just an enticement to sell their professional services  stating not to kill them.

I have tried the  warfarin mouse thing,  right down their holes but they shovel it  back out onto the ground and ignore it. So far, the gasoline down the holes and let it burn for an hour works somewhat.

This thing would be awesome!  Too bad it isn't real.

I hate voles. I hunt them over bait;  challenging, but good practice!

If this mouse trap is cheap I might consider buying one for testing. Our area has been infested with voles for what seems like decades.

Smarthome, HomeSeer, and Home Depot all seem to be in on the joke, who wants to spend the eighty bucks to find out?

From the Z-wave specs, the mouser can be armed/disarmed via Z-wave, and reports using the "Pest Control" Notification Type.  There's also a parameter to "define how long the Mouser will fire continuously before it starts to burst-fire"

Somehow I get the feeling Dome is itching to scale this up to full-size doorways.

Its really not that bad. It only stays up for a moment. Maybe because of placement and brightness of my rooms, I simply dont notice it.

Im out of town right now but when I get home I will post one.

<snipped>

I must admit I didn't look in those places, as I don't deal with the first two and the HD link posted is cyclic here  :)

The original link and a few other places I looked all stated "Not Available"

The price isn't too bad at $80 USD.

I don't imagine HD would ever have them in US stores, where I can get my hands on one.

Thanks! I shall look on my next excursion.

I bought a DMMZ1 a couple years ago and it works well. Yes, I have other non-electronic mouse traps that work well and are far less expensive, but I my gadget resistance is low.

So I purchased the Dome Mouser and linked it to my ISY. Also purchased a skull lamp and plugged it in to an appliance module. I made a program turn on the skull lamp when the Dome Mouser is triggered. Major geek win! You can also check on battery remaining in the Mouser through the ISY.

I have also used the Victor wifi mouse trap, but found the wifi connection to be too unreliable. I am hoping this z-wave trap will fare better - and I don't have to use an app on the phone.

It was a dark joke, a callback to my initial comment about how the Dome Mouser is currently the only intentionally lethal product approved by the zwave alliance.

I recognized the joke, as dark as it was. But it would work for TSA if it comes with a terrorist detector.
