EPalisoc Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 I know perhaps a bit off topic, but I wanted to send a thank you post for io_guy for the great and indispensible package. I finally got the EVL4 and put it all in working order (no thanks to a delay caused by Irma), and it's running flawlessly. I'm now going to retire my nests and switch to ecobees entirely because of the support for it I see in nodelink. io_guy I paypal'd youa token of thanks. Hope it helps.
paulbates Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Thanks for the reminder! io_guy just made some big updates to Venstar! Another donation from here as well. Paul
rccoleman Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Indeed, NodeLink brings a whole new level of automation and there's no way that I'd go back to the dark ages. Anyone waiting forever for 5.0 to be officially released is really missing out.
bcdavis75 Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Just stumbled on this. What exactly is Nodelink?
rccoleman Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Take a look at the sticky links in this forum. They show the list of devices that NodeLink supports and there’s a pointer to a readme about how to use it. In short, it’s a fantastic little app that you run on a separate machine (like a Raspberry Pi) and it uses the Node Server functionality in the alpha ISY 5.0.x build to add support for lots of devices not currently supported natively. I use it mostly for my two Ecobee thermostats, but it can do a lot more than that.
bipto Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Must chime in here... Having taken a break from HA tinkering to focus on other projects, I revisited this just last week to upgrade from v0.3.0 to v0.7.3. As I struggled to remember the password to SSH in to my Raspberry Pi it occurred to me that Nodelink had been running for well over 18 months without any intervention whatsoever. That's pretty impressive if you ask me...
apostolakisl Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I have had similar long term success. I have it running on a pc, which has not made it 18 months without a reboot, but it always comes back up after a reboot without intervention and does its thing.
