Why is My Agave so slow to respond when first started?

When I run the Agave app, I wait until the yellow cloud in the upper right turns black and try to adjust my lighting but always have to wait around 15 seconds for the lights to respond.  If I leave the app running after that it is instant.  Any ideas about this?

This is the result of requests to have Agave sync all the favorites on startup.  After Agave get its connection setup it queries all of the favorites to ensure that everything on the favorites screen is up to date.
