pauldugas Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 I have a hand full of the Insteon Micro Dimmer Modules installed behind switches in my place. Most work perfectly. One seems to think the switch input is toggling on its own. The switched input to this one is a 3-way and I'm wondering if something odd may be confusing the sense input. Has anyone here had a problem with these units in a setup like this? Diagram of the circuit attached. I've ohm'd out everything and it's wired correctly. My digital meter reports odd AC voltages on the SENSE input to the dimmer module which I suspect are caused by phantom voltage on the return from switch-2 which is in the same piece of romex wire as the travelers. I suspect this is where the problem lies but I'm not sure how to fix it.
stusviews Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 The wiring is correct. Try setting the Options to Latching.
pauldugas Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 The checkbox in the Device Options panel labeled "Momentary: (Off) Latching" is unchecked. I believe this indicates it's in latching mode already.
stusviews Posted October 27, 2017 Posted October 27, 2017 I erroneously believed that you were in 3-way mode when I offered the alternative. Try the various options.
pauldugas Posted October 27, 2017 Author Posted October 27, 2017 I'm leaning toward the phantom voltage being the issue. Going to reach out to some EE friends to see if there's a way to filter that out. A little surprised it's not handled properly in the module actually. All assuming my read of the situation is correct of course...
