pilotgeek Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Hello James, An idea came up elsewhere on this forum and you requested clarification [that did not come]. That said, I think it is a pretty great idea, so with the risk of plagiarism, I submit the following: From the home screen it should be possible to swipe left and/or right (dependent upon configuration) revealing additional "home pages". Something like the dots (or ellipses if you please) on the android home page would apply nicely. Why would I want this? There is not enough space on the home page, and there is no real way to organize it. Yes, I can carefully add things, but once you add enough things it gets hard to find anything. Basically, if I have to scroll to find it, it is often not quickly found. I can use rooms to get around that issue.. but rooms take multiple button presses to access. But if I could have a "home", and one for exterior lights, and one for the master bedroom (just examples), then I would be set. Alternatively if I could set up so that when I swiped right from home it would go directly to the "Exterior" room that would work too. In other words, rather than expanding (or perhaps in addition to) home pages to multiple pages wide, you could add a feature to allow macros when sliding left or right from the home page. Hopefully that is good for thought. Unrelated: There is a question about cost. I tried the software, and $99 seemed more than I wanted it to be, but it is way better than any alternatives, and for the potential audience (as in quantity) the price seems right. Yes, home automation people are often people and are, by nature, cheapskates. But they will begrudgingly pay for the better solution. Or at least that is my 2 cents. Also unrelated: The weather thing is pretty neat. I have to try irrigation in the near future. Regards, Neal
apostolakisl Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Yes, I like this idea. When the home page is full, you don't scroll up or down, but swipe left and right, just like andoird pages work. I suppose you could also leave the scroll available, only to be used if someone "overfills" one of the "home" pages. It might also be nice to have a smaller icon option so you could fit more on a page at once.

As soon as I find a good way to accomplish this it "will" happen. As for organization. If you "Long Press" on any item on the favorites screen you can drag it to any position in the list. Screenshot attached: I am both confused and curious as to what you mean by functional not implemented. Do you mean that the system has support for multiple home pages, but the sliding is not implemented [due to the lack of an appropriate ViewPager API call]? Or do you mean I could access the functionality under certain circumstances? Or? And yes, been using long press since day 1. Critical function for sure. Regards, Neal

One thought would be to add a setting for quantity of home pages [defaulted to 1 for backwards compatibility]. That would eliminate any issues WRT add/delete of pages. Regards, Neal
