Bathroom Fan Swicth also controlling Family Room Lights?!?!

I could use some help troubleshooting...

I have a bathroom fan switch (2477S Dual Band SwitchLink On/Off Switch v. 45) that is behaving funny. When I turn it on by physically tapping the switch it also turns on my family room can lights. Similarly when turning off the bathroom fan by physically tapping it off my family room can lights turn off. The family room can lights are controlled by a 2477D Dual Band SwitchLinc Dimmer v.45. Interestingly when I change the on / off state of the bathroom fan using the ISY administrative console or the mobilinc mobile application, the state of the family room can lights does not change - the state of the family room can lights only changes when I physically tap the bathroom fan switch (or use the switch for the family room can lights). Changing the state of the family room can lights (either by physically tapping the switch or through the ISY admin console or mobilinc app) does not change the state of the bathroom fan.

In the ISY Administrative Console I call the family room can light switch "FamRmCanLts" and this switch has the following membership:

FamRmCanLts is Controller for

ScFamRoomCanLites

FamRomCanLts is Responder to

ScAllInsideLtsOn

ScFamRoomCanLts

In the ISY Administrative Console I call the bathroom fan switch "SwBath2Fan" and this switch has the following membership:

SwBath2Fan is Controller for

ScBath2FanOn

SwBath2Fan is Responder to

ScBath2FanOn

Anybody have any ideas about why state changes by physical touch of my bathroom fan switch are causing my family room can lights to turn on / off? I could really use some pointers or suggestions about how to best troubleshoot this issue.

The ISY can not detect links in swtiches that were manually set. You won't see them in the admin console. That's what sounds like is going on here. I can't explain how that happened, but let's start with something simple for the symptoms:

Give this a try

  • Factory reset the family room can switch
  • From the admin console, right click on the family room can switch, and select "restore device". That will reprogram your current links documented above
  • Retry the fan to see what happens

I have the same problem. i have had a large system for years with no issues. I added a 2477s to a bathroom exhaust fan and another 2477s to laundry room lights (florescent) they will each turn the other on like they are linked in a 3way scene. i have done a restore on both devices and it still does it. also have removed both from the ISY and added them back and they still respond to each other.

Any ideas?

Did you factory reset them prior to the restore? If the switches were linked together prior to adding to the ISY, the ISY can't detect that. Factory resetting clears that, and restore devices puts the ISY's links back

A shortcut to resolve the ghost links since you know what they are:  Add both to a new scene as controller then remove them from the scene and discard it.  The ISY will take over the orphaned links and then delete them.
