Could it be? A stable system?

Recommended Posts

Hi gang,

A long history of recurrent problems, and I'm (hopefully) seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Button presses not recognized. KPL buttons being recognized but not correctly (ex. B button being recognized as a keypress from button A). General unreliability.

I should mention that I have a bunch of Insteon switches (about 80) and a bunch of KPLs of various types (9 if I am counting correctly), as well as 6 motion detectors. I use a whole bunch of scenes and programs. I could never get a reliable PLM link count, but it was usually greater than 700, and on one occasion was over 1700.

Michel and others from ISY had suggested replacing my PLM. I upgraded to a v7A, but still had issues. Today I received my new PLM (v85!), and right off the bat things looked more promising. My most problematic KPL came back to life (except I had to reset the toggle mode .. first all toggle, then selected the toggle mode for each of the secondary buttons that needed adjusting). Feeling giddy I tried the next most problematic KPL. No joy. However, a factory reset (again with a subsequent reset of the toggle modes) and that switch is back to life as well. Now I am going to wander about the house and fix any other problematic KPLs. Hopefully I will be able to report back that all the gremlins are gone.

Both myself and my local supplier had some doubts that a new PLM would fix the issues, but it seems to have made a difference so far. If you have a large installation and ongoing issues and the Universal Devices gang recommend a new PLM, I would definitely suggest getting one!

Cheers!
