My plan is to use it for garage door control (paralleled with my existing hard-wired button) and door position feedback (with something like the Seco magnetic contact switch). Is that a good way to go? Any suggestions, words of wisdom (or caution)? Thanks in advance.

I don't know about v5+, but in v4+ you need to create a program using the state of the sensor and/or switch as a trigger.
