Colored indicator lights

I'm searching for a z-wave device that can simply show me one of two colors (I don't care what they are) depending on the status of other devices. I'm considering the Homeseer 200 series switch or dimmer or the Homeseer multi-sensor. The problem is that I don't really need a switch in the location that I want to install the device, and the multi-sensor seems to have issues (and to be polite, is a bit attractively challenged). Are there any other options out there?

Does it have to be zwave?

You could use some hue lights and network resources or polyglot or a few other types of things.

No, I suppose it doesn't have to be z-wave, but that would be ideal. Hue lights would work well but are overkill - was hoping for something with a just couple small LED indicator lights.

I did something similar with an esp8266 style device and rgb led. But that isn't super simple either as you need to program it and solder and such.

I don't know if this will meet your needs.

I used a White** Insteon Keypad for this (6 Button )

A purchased a color kit and put:

  • a green filter behind Key C
  • a red filter behind Key D

I originally set up scenes that:

  • When the Garage door is closed   : turn  D off and  C on (Green Light)
  • When the Garage door is open      : turn D on  and C off (Red Light)

Then the wife complained about the Christmas tree effect and now:

  • Garage Door Open - Button D glows Red ( press it the door closes but can't open it)
  • Garage Door Closed - No light (other than background)

I saved a button, it is used for something else & happy wife = happy life.

Note: The dark color pads are too opaque for this to work.
