lion Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 Hey everyone, I'm trying to use Aeotec Panic Buttons (https://www.amazon.com/Aeotec-Button-Z-Wave-Control-Trigger/dp/B00PJ88FUA) as an input to my ISY controller. The manual is scant, but located here: https://aeotec.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/6000177086-panic-button-user-manual- These are single button Z-Wave devices that operate in two modes. One as a Zwave controller, one as a scene controller. My use case is that this install is going into a small care facility to signal attendants in a non-emergency manner. The ISY also handles security via door/motion sensors that report to attendants via PushBullet to their phone. I would like the Panic Button to be able to kick off a Network event pushing a notification via PushBullet, similar to the door/motion sensors, that arrives on their phones. The Panic Button in its Z-wave controller mode does not appear to talk to the ISY (as seen by no RX/TX lights on the ISY) when in its default mode as a controller. Setting it to use/scene mode (see manual) does allow the device to be added to the Z-Wave network. The ISY shows the device in the device tree, but there are no attributes to key off from (see attached pic). In this mode pressing the button does result in RX/TX activity, but there is no indication of the ISY doing anything with the data. Does anyone have any experience with this device? Any ideas on how to make it work? What other diagnostic data can provide? Thanks!
lion Posted February 14, 2018 Author Posted February 14, 2018 Is there anyone from Universal Devices that can weigh in? If I ship an example of this device to UD, can it be made to work?
Michel Kohanim Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Hi lion, Unfortunately not since we don't have one. We'll have to buy one to test with. With kind regards, Michel
lion Posted February 14, 2018 Author Posted February 14, 2018 I'm more than happy to send you (UD) one if that is what you need.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Hi lion, Thank you very much. We'll buy one as we do need to keep. With kind regards, Michel
lion Posted February 14, 2018 Author Posted February 14, 2018 Great, thanks. I've linked the device from Amazon above, it's cheap ($25). Please let me know what you come up with to make it work.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 lion, Already ordered. With kind regards, Michel
Michel Kohanim Posted March 27, 2018 Posted March 27, 2018 Hi lion, Yes, we'll be working on it shortly. With kind regards, Michel
stevesreed Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Thanks for looking into this. I have a couple of these as well and did not get very far in making them work with ISY.
Michel Kohanim Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 Hi lion, It's next on the list right after INSTEON motion sensor. With kind regards, Michel
KSchex Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 Is there any good news on panic button operation?
Michel Kohanim Posted December 9, 2018 Posted December 9, 2018 @KSchex, Have you tried it with 5.0.14? It should work. With kind regards, Michel
lion Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 Tried with 5.0.14 .. still does not work.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 @lion, Did you exclude and then include again? With kind regards, Michel
KSchex Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Don't know if my experience is helpful: I am using 5.0.14 and have spent a lot of time on this device. I finally got it included but could not get any further. In reading the instructions it specifically says that it will operate in Group Mode or Scene Mode. I don't think either will do what I want; to trigger a program in the ISY. I just gave up.
lion Posted January 23, 2019 Author Posted January 23, 2019 I did exclude/include ... and I see the same thing as KSchex, doesn't matter what mode, I get nothing actionable in the ISY.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Thank you guys. I am going to reopen this bug. #660 With kind regards, Michel
