Alexa has stopped responding to UDI related (ISY Portal) commands.  Alexa works for strictly amazon things.  Anyone else seeing this

Is this still an issue?  I am getting "not responding" by Alexa for every one of my ISY devices.  Worked fine a half hour ago and nothing has changed on my end.

Hi sdcrane,

One of the proxies was down between 10:44 and 10:57 UTC ... around the same time as this post. Do you still have this problem?

All these intermittent issues revolve around one proxy the hardware for which was replaced (based on Amazon accounts). We will terminate this instance completely and recreate everything on a new hardware ourselves on Sunday. Cannot afford all the intermittent issues.

Hi there,   

    Odd item here, around 1130 CT all was good, then all of a sudden Alexa wouldn't turn anything on.  I rebooted the Echo, the ISY, removed and re-added the switch, same thing.  I say "Alexa Kitchen on" Kitchen does nothing, if I turn it on, then repeat "Alexa Kitchen on", the kitchen turns off.  Wicked odd.

After you re-added the switch to the ISY, did you update the device in the portal (delete and add back)? Did you update the device in the Alexa app (delete and add back)? If not, then delete the device from the app first and the from the portal and go through the adding process again.

I sat down and methodically went through the steps and documented them below..  

  1. Using the Alexa App, I "forgot all" and clicked discover
  2. Tested Alexa by Saying "Alexa Kitchen on", the light did not turn on, however as before, if I turned it on manually then asked to turn it on, the light actually turned off
  3. Result Fail
  4. Using  the Alexa App, I "Forgot All"
  5. Using the ISY Portal, I removed the device, readded the device to the ISY Portal
  6. Using the Alexa App I clicked discover
  7. Tested Alexa by Saying "Alexa Kitchen on", the light did not turn on, however as before, if I turned it on manually then asked to turn it on, the light actually turned off
  8. Result Fail
  9. Using  the Alexa App, I "Forgot All"
  10. Using the ISY Portal, I removed the device
  11. Using the Admin Console for the ISY Device I removed the device, then readded the device
  12. Using the ISY Portal, I added the device
  13. Using the Alexa App, I clicked Discover
  14. Tested Alexa by Saying "Alexa Kitchen on", the light turned on

This points to that something occurred with the ISY?  

Am I going to need to go through and redo all the lights in my ISY, scenes?

You should not have to do that. The questions are:

1. Is ISY Portal reflecting the correct state of your devices (name/address)?

2. Can you control these devices from the Admin Console or from the Web Interface on ISY Portal?

All, update on the recent issues with the portal:

As per Amazon, there's a bug with a specific type of instance we use (m5.large) whereby it stops responding to health checks and then it will have to be rebooted (and moved to a different hardware). The problem is that we recently migrated to m5.large because of bandwidth problems with Alexa and cannot go back. We are actively working with Amazon to find a resolution. In the meantime, the load balancer is working properly: in case any of the instances go offline, the other will take over. On Sunday, may add another proxy to the mix just in case.

      The ISY Portal reflects the status of the device, as does the Administrative console, as does Mobilinc,  and in all three cases I can toggle the devices off and on.  

 

Very odd..

Hello Sean,

I'm currently investigating the logs. It looks like your Alexa requests are coming in today successfully. Are you still experiencing problems?

If so, would you have a specific device that you are trying that is not working? Please let me know which one.

Also, I notice that you are still using the Alexa V2 skill. I would recommend switching to V3.

Hi there Benoit thank you for looking into my issue. 

      I upgraded to v3, forgot all devices and re discovered, same issues. 

The one that is working "kitchen" due to me removing it completely from the ISY and re-adding it.

Kitchen Table is one that is not working.

Do they actually work, or do you still have an issue?

If they still don't work, the issue is not with ISY Portal. If so, please try turning it on/off from UDAjax or the admin console. If they don't work, this needs to be fixed. Michel could help.
