smokegrub Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 I have a ToggleLinc that is used to turn on a bedroom light. The spoken "Turn On/Off Donnie's Bedroom Light" works without fail. When I change the spoken in the portal to "Turn On/Off Donnie's Bedroom" and tell Alexa to discover new devices I am told that two were discovered and that the new spoken "Donnie's Bedroom Light" cannot be found. If I then use the spoken "Turn on Donnie's Bedroom Light" that spoken is executed. It is as if there were a "phantom" device with the deleted spoken somehow remaining in the Echo. I have checked to see if the device ID is used elsewhere in the portal or a duplicate record is to be seen. When I select Smarthome in the App I see 5 icons labeled "Dad's Bedroom Light" (a name for that device which was subsequently changed) and 5 labeled "Donnie's Bedroom Light". My guess is this is where my problem stems from. What do I need to do to ensure that only the most up-to-date devices and spokens are in the Echo database? Would I need to somehow delete the data in the App and repopulate it from the portal? Your help will be appreciated. Quote
stusviews Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Once a spoken is added to Alexa, it remains even if it's deleted from both the portal and the ISY (or either). Unused/deleted/removed/changed spokens need to be manually removed either one-by-one or all-at-once. My preferred method is to forget all and then re-discover. Only the computer app has the ability to forget all. Quote

stusviews Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 If you haven't already done so, download and install the Alexa app for a computer, Mac or PC. The smartphone app does not have the ability to "Forget All." Select Smart Home (left panel), select Devices or Scene, it doesn't matter. Scroll to the bottom of the list. That's where you'll find both Discover and Forget All. Quote
webminster Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 Alternatively, go to https://alexa.amazon.com/spa/index.html and find Forget All under Smart Home / Devices. Quote
smokegrub Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 (edited) After the devices are forgotten in the app (I have the app), I assume that all that is then needed is to tell Alexa to discover new devices. Correct? Edited February 28, 2018 by smokegrub clarification Quote
smokegrub Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 Sorry, I missed what you said above, Stu. I will delete from the App and Re-discover using Alexa. Quote
smokegrub Posted February 28, 2018 Author Posted February 28, 2018 Problem solved. More importantly, I have learned something that will be valuable going forward. Thanks, guys. Quote
