For everyone who has expressed a desire to see a book on the ISY, please visit the following links.

  1. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page#ISY_Cookbook
  2. https://www.universal-devices.com/start/ under User Guides

This is a first release of the above book, which contains around 650 pages. It covers a lot of information. Specifically for new users as well as anyone who wants to program the ISY with the units native programming language and built in capabilities. It contains a lot basic and technical information. I have consolidated of this information into a single source, specifically for my use. However, I am releasing it for everyone to use.

It does not cover advanced programming, but if there is enough interest I may look on producing another book with topics such as programming and setting up Polyglot, Node Servers, etc.

Please let me and Universal Devices know your thoughts on this book. Whether good or bad. We would appreciate your feedback. You can send any comments, files, and documents to: isy.cookbook@gmail.com. Based on this we will decide if this is something that we will maintain and keep current.

Please let fellow users know about this book so we can a lot of feedback.

Thanks

Many thanks. I am still struggling with the concept of 'variables' and hopefully your "book" will guide me.

I just tried my hand on the section that deals with FanLinc and KPLs.

I think the section might need to be updated for 5.x firmwares, where the Copy Attributes is no longer an option. This appears to have been deprecated.

Otherwise, it’s an enjoyable read!

Tonyhuk,

Thanks for your input on the book. I appreciate any comments and/or additions. Please feel free to comment further any time you desire.

Regarding your comments about updaing for v5.x. You are correct. This book initially was a compilation of information that I found regarding the ISY, as you know most of the articles are specific to pre v5.x. I am currently in the process of updating the book with all the v5.x stuff I can. I am working with Universal Devices on this as well. I plan to add all the v5.x stuff, and keep this book updated for future versions. I will be re-releasing this book as changes come about. I will look into making the changes you indicate.

Thanks again.
