RF_Burns Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 (edited) I've searched the forum and cannot find an answer to my issue. Sorry if this has been covered, please link me to that post then. I have two 2334-222 keypads (8 button) which I have linked together in a Scene to form a 3-way switch. One switch powers the light, while the other has no loads on it. I have several buttons on each for dimming levels (B=80% , C=60% etc) and these buttons work fine and as expected from either switch. The Main buttons I would like to have set as 100%. The Main button works on the switch powering the lamp, but not on the other switch. The Main button lights up on the other switch, but nothing happens on the controlled switch powering the lamp. I have several rooms setup the same way and none of the unloaded Main switches will activate the loaded main switch. If I use a single switch dimmer as the second switch the Main button will control it or ice versa. How do I make the Main buttons on a keypad control another main button? or is there some reason this cannot be done? OPPS! edited, they are 8 button keypads. Thanks Edited June 29, 2018 by RF_Burns
larryllix Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 Did you create the scenes using the admin console?
RF_Burns Posted June 29, 2018 Author Posted June 29, 2018 Yes, I created them using the ISY admin console. For each Main button I set the ON level at 100% and 2 second ramp for both switches in the scene.
Techman Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 (edited) All the keypad buttons need to be in the scene as Controllers. Once they're in the scene you can set the ON level and RAMP rate for each button in the scene. If you installed the button(s) as Responders then you'll need to remove them from the scene and add them back as controllers. Edited June 29, 2018 by Techman
RF_Burns Posted June 30, 2018 Author Posted June 30, 2018 Yes, they are both set as Controllers in the Scene. They show up as Red in the Scene, which I understand means its a controller. I have buttons B, C, and D set on each switch as preset Dim levels and those buttons work on each switch. Only the Main button won't trigger the Main button on the opposite keypad. Thanks
Techman Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 If they show as red then they're controllers. Make sure that in your scene both of the buttons that control your light have their on level set at 100%, or the on level you want. In theory should work as expected. It's possible that the links in the keypad got corrupted. Try doing a restore device for each keypad. If that doesn't work then do a factory reset on each keypad then a restore device. Let me know if that resolved the problem.
RF_Burns Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 Finally did a factory reset on both. One restored fine, but the other reported "Cannot communicate" I tried several times with no luck. I then did a second factory reset, but same error on restore. Looks like I'll need to replace that switch.
Techman Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 That could be the root of your problem. Did the keypad that failed have the load connected to it, if so what type of load is it? It's also possible that you have some type of interference on the circuit that the problem keypad is on. I would also try another factory reset / restore device before you replace it.
