Techman Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 I just added the Aeotec Smart Switch 6 with the hope of being able to monitor a gas dryer. I noticed that the energy usage only updates if you query the device. I was hopeful that when the load changed the usage would update. I'm also unable to turn the switch on or off, being that I get energy data from the device I'm not sure if this is an issue with the ISY or the switch. ISY firmware is 4.7.3. The device firmware is 1.04 UPDATE: I just saw other threads with the same issue. Apparently the problem is with the ISY firmware. The energy usage in the ISY should update after a preset level has been met, this feature is not working.
PhanTomiZ Posted August 15, 2018 Posted August 15, 2018 I installed my Smart Switch quite a while ago, so I'm going on memory (which doesn't serve very well). I've found some of my personal notes referring to the Smart Switch 6. I am on 4.7.3 and have firmware V1.1 on the Smart Switch. Tried the others and no go. This version will do all you want to do including on/off function and full monitoring. Here is a link that may be useful. It's one I followed when I installed mine on Feb 28/17. Hope this helps. PhanTomiZ P.S. I have a personal PDF that I kept with my configurations if you're interested.

I can't speak on your firmware version, but the 5.0 branch does allow for full use of this device. You can find the parameters for it in the owners manual on the company's website.
Techman Posted August 15, 2018 Author Posted August 15, 2018 Thanks all for the feedback. Seems the ISY doesn't support the current firmware version(s) of the Smart Switch. At this point I'll wait it out until UDI fully supports it. For now I'm staying with 4.7.3 as I need the stability.
cwitter Posted August 16, 2018 Posted August 16, 2018 I have one of these and it works fine under the 4 and 5 firmware versions. I'm pretty sure that there is a value to change in the configuration parameters on how often it's supposed to report the voltage. There are values you can change to tweak the reporting values and intervals, but that appears to be a moot issue as the ISY is unable to control the switch.

I have 3 of these (newest firmware) and all work with the ISY just fine without any issues. As stated previously, the parameters found in the full owners manual on the company's website has to be put in to achieve the desired results

Which firmware version of the ISY and Smart Switch are you running? Did you change any of the parameters or did the Switch work for you right out of the box?
lilyoyo1 Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 I had to change the parameters I'm traveling right now so Im not in front of my system to see exactly what I changed. With that said it's in the manual. I'm using the 5.0.12 for my house and 5.0.13 for my test setup

gduprey Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Just an update - just added 2 of these (Aeotec SmartSwitch 6 "cube"s) to my ISY running 4.7.3 and they work well. Each shows up as 3 devices (on/off, some sort of sensor/level and a power meter). Worked right out of the box. FYI

gduprey Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 No idea - looked over the box and nothing on it now was their any date codes I could discern. Just purchased them a few days ago via amazon, so likely pretty recent, but nothing definitive.

gduprey Posted January 31, 2019 Posted January 31, 2019 I have one of them in my hand and cannot see any date or version info. I can see the model name and number, FCC info, input/output specs and a bunch of certifications and related trade marks. I've looked over the ZWave config values (some devices expose the current firmware version via those) and did not see anything that would expose version info. I'm open to checking other things (unless I have to plug the device into a windows computer to do it - I don't have any windows based systems and I know, for example, you need one to flash the devices firmware). Just let me know where to look. Gerry
Techman Posted January 31, 2019 Author Posted January 31, 2019 Unless you manually update its firmware there's no easy way to determine the firmware version. You would have to use a Zstick and software to interrogate the device in order to see its firmware version. It would certainly be helpful if they printed the firmware version on the device.
