Mutt Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 I've successfully installed subject item and the water leak function appears to be working fine. I seem to be unable to activate the low temperature alarm ("underheat"). I have successfully been able to update the underheat limit (parameter 50) to my desired level of 65F, but the device has not responded to testing with actual low temperatures. When I attempt to check the setting for parameter 48, I get an error message (Z-Wave Command Failed). Like most (all?) battery-powered Z-wave devices, she goes to sleep unless wakened by something, like a leak detection. I was hoping to use this as a secondary check against a furnace malfunction for an unattended property. I did program an alert in the ISY, but since the device does not wake-up and update the temperature level, that does not seem to be a solution. Any thoughts/experiences are appreciated
Mutt Posted November 11, 2018 Author Posted November 11, 2018 I did figure out a crude workaround. I've noted that the device does wake up briefly about every hour, but it does not automatically report the temperature value. I found that if I request a query when it is asleep, it will then report the temperature when it wakes up. So I made a program that requests a query every 4 hours (6 times a day) and so I get an update sometime within an hour of each query request. This updated value can then be used in a program to send me an email/text if the temperature drops below an alert level (e.g. 65F). I still have not figured out how to make use of the device's internal "underheat" alarm...I've sent a question into Aeotec and will let you all know what I learn.
