In the portal I set the fanlinc device as a fan, but when I tell google to turn on the fan to hi, it says setting fan speed to high, but shows Fan (switch) On. It turns on to low.

anone else see this issue?

I use Google Home to activate my ceiling fans. When I tell GH to turn the fan ON it goes to the level that the fan was at the last time it was ON. If I want turn the fan OFF, I just ask GH to turn it OFF. If I want the fan to be at one of the 3 pre-set levels of ON, then I ask GH to put the fan at  XX %, knowing that in fact any % below 34 % is lowest speed, between 34 and 66 % it is at the middle speed, and between 67 and 100 % it goes to the fastest speed.

If the fan is on high and I say *turn on x fan low" it works, but medium and high don't work even though GH says it's being changed.

I use either percentages or 'brighten' and 'dim'. I never use 'medium' and 'high'

Yes I understand that, but it's not very friendly. Would like to know what other options are available.

I suggest that you try to create a GH Shortcut/Routine.

I was hoping for a response from @bmercier to clarify what can be done.

I have a surprise for you. ISY/GH now supports fans.

In ISY Portal, edit the device, and just change the GH type to "Fan".

All you need to do is:
- Create the device, and chose the GH Category "Fan" (You can also edit your existing fan exposed as a light)
- Click Send Spokens to Google Home (Or sync by asking GH)
- Tests the vocal requests
     Turn on <fan>
     Turn off <fan>
     Set <fan> to Low|Medium|High
What's the speed of <fan> (Should return Off|Low|Medium|High)

This should work well with a fanlinc.

If you have another sort of fan, your mileage may vary.

Yes, we noticed that surprise. But medium and high don't seem to work, only on, off and low?

Which fan are you using?

Low/Med/High are using FanLinc max values.

Off is 0

Low is 49

Medium is 99

High is 100

Can you test the values match the speed?
Does setting it to 99 make it run at medium speed?
Does setting it to 100 make it run at high speed?
I could not test with a real fanlinc, so I relied on this:

Looks like something has changed, my tests show
Low 1-127
Medium 128-253
High 255

I just realized that you are using an Insteon device. My comments are about my Zwave setup. This works perfectly with GH but of course I need to use separate devices for Fan and Fan, Light, unlike Insteon.

If I set my fanlinc as fan in the GH interface. It sees it as an on off switch, so not sure how anyone is able to set to different percentages. I just get On or off. But Google assistant will reply that they set the setting.

It doesn't show as a fan in the Home app? I added one of mine and named it "test fan", see attached pic.

Hey @bmercier is this easy to change, or will it have to wait for the next update?  Looking forward to switching all my fans to use this instead of the current method I use.

It's an easy change, but I'm wondering if this may be firmware dependant.

Which version are you using? 5.x?

@Jimbo, the values have been adjusted.

Can you try it again?

so how are you testing this?  I can't change percentages for my fanlinc.  In the Home App the fan icon has no controls available for manual intervention unlike all my lights and switiches. when I use Google Assistant it only shows me the fan as a on off switch (again no percentage dimmer space).  seems this thread was hijacked. Do I just need to set my fanlinc as a light?
