dwengrovitz Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 I've been seeing a few error messages in the Nodelink web display over the last few months, such as: DSC: Error in received string - checksum failed (90100032 Date Time DEC 1518 9:09a) [dsc1] Not sure if this is a problem with the DSC (my connection is via IT-100/PCS401) or with the serial to ethernet adapter used to connect the DSC to the ISY/network, or something else. Thought I'd ask the experts here for input. Anyone seen anything like this before? Any suggestions on troubleshooting?
io_guy Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Usually related to serial cable length vs. baud rate. Is it only ever on the date string?
dwengrovitz Posted December 16, 2018 Author Posted December 16, 2018 I don't have a lengthy log to go back and review so I can't say for sure. But, I don't recall seeing it reference other elements. I'll have to watch it for a while to be sure. Is it worth swapping out the serial or ethernet cables (that's probably a lower cost option than replacing the DSC board or the serial to ethernet adapter)?
io_guy Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 I wouldn't change anything until you quantify the frequency of the errors. If it's a few date errors every now and then what odds. If i was upgrading I'd ditch the old guy and move to an EVL4.
dwengrovitz Posted December 16, 2018 Author Posted December 16, 2018 Good suggestions ... on both fronts. I'll continue to watch things for a while and if it looks like I need to change out some equipment it's probably more effective (and cheaper) to go with the EVL4. Thanks for the assistance!
