Zigbee and Insteon simultaneously

Greetings,

I'm building an Insteon network but seeing the possibility of zigbee as a viable option in the future. I see from the ISY product page http://www.universal-devices.com/products.htm that support for zigbee is coming. How will you communicate with the zigbee protocol and how that will effect an Insteon PLM already connected to the ISY? More to the point will we be able to have both Insteon devices and zigbee devices controlled by the ISY at the same time? How will this work?

Thanks,

Hello Greg,

Excellent question. As you may know, Zigbee comes in many different profiles one of which is Home Automation. Unfortunately, though, there are NOT any home automation enabled Zigbee products that are interoperable (unlike ZWave).

As such, our Zigbee integration right now revolves around SEP and not Home Automation. We will have units that support both INSTEON and Zigbee SEP at the same time. When more Zigbee HA devices are available, then we shall surely support it.

With kind regards,

Michel
