Including-Excluding Zwave devices

This morning I added my first Zooz Zwave device to my ISY and I noticed that it needs 3 upper clicks to include and 3 down clicks to exclude to/from my ISY. Inovelli requires 6 clicks, and other Zwave brands require just one click.

This is confusing as I don't always remember which of many Zwave switches belongs to which brand and I need to exclude one of my devices then I would need to know how many times to click ?. I would be great if the Zwave Alliance could promote/impose the same inclusion/exclusion process for all Zwave devices.

Interestingly a few days ago I added an Inovelli plug-in device which has auto-inclusion. This works by setting your ISY to inclusion just before plugging in the device for the first time. Very useful.

Great timing, I was just dealing with this issue this past weekend, with a Homeseer WD 200 switch I was trying to exclude. I had to go to their website and download a PDF of the instructions to find out it takes one up tap to do so. I usually keep a PDF for each device in iBooks so I can find them in a hurry but I didn’t have that one. Now I’m up to date.

The Zooz ZEN07, when they had them, were auto inclusion, as are the look-alike NEO, wish they all were.

I am new to Zwave; however, I have been using x10 and insteon forever..... I have several zwave devices working fine.  I am trying to add some GE zwave plus light switches to my shop which is about 75 feet from another zwave device and another 25 feet to my ISY.    SO, I decided to move one of my already included switches from my house to my shop.  It works perfectly, no issues.  Now I added two additional switches, right out of the box, to my shop for some other lights.  These two new switches are within inches of my first switch which is working fine.   When I tell ISY to start including, it can't "see" either of the two new switches.  I thought Zwave would hop from device to device on their own, but do I need to have them in the direct signal range of my ISY first (to get them on the network) ??   This seems really inconvenient.  Maybe I should have stayed with insteon.  Any ideas?

If your devices support Network wife inclusion then it should/could work. Sounds like they may not.

Unlike insteon, which repeats automatically, zwave devices do not as they must be included in the network first. Many newer devices support NWI but not all do.

Unfortunately you may have to bring it closer to your isy to get it paired
