Eclypse Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I have suddenly had my ISY stop issuing commands. I am thinking it’s the PLM but I am not sure. If I look to tools PLM status it shows connected however when the home page boots up it can't find any of my insteon devices and no commands are going out over the power line. If I issue an IR command I can see the reception of the command in the log. Is there anything I can check that will verify that it's the PLM and not some other issue? Any advice is much appreciated Chris
MikeB Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Hi Chris - If you cannot send/receive commands to devices on the powerline, especially nearby devices (try plugging a LampLinc or ApplianceLinc right on top of the PLM as a test), then I would also suspect a bad PLM. Did you try rebooting the PLM?
Eclypse Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 I can't get any devices to respond no matter how close they are. Can the PLM units get reset? I unplugged the unit for about a minute then plugged it back in. Does that count as rebooting or do you need to hold the reset switch down?
MikeB Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Even if the PLM had factory reset itself, you should still be able to control devices. You can try a factory reset if you'd like. The procedure should be in their documentation, but basically you unplug from power for 10 seconds or so, hold the set button in, plug the PLM back in, continue to hold the set button for 10 seconds, then release. If you can control devices from the ISY at that point, you would want to run a "Restore PLM" from the ISY's Admin Console. It does, however, sound like you have a bad PLM.
Eclypse Posted June 8, 2009 Author Posted June 8, 2009 Well that did the trick. Thanks for telling me how to do the reset. I have toooo Many boxes from smarthome . I had already done a cross ship replacement for the PLM. So i will exchange it anyway for peace of mind. THanks again for all your help.
