50-50
I have my ISY polling (and successfully retrieving) OpenADR event notifications. How do it make it act on an Asset? In this case an Insteon Dimmer Switch. I can't find any instructions online. I added a single switch as a responder to the Auto DR Scene in the Admin Console. I set the OpenADR settings to Normal/Moderate/High/Special "Load Adj%" percentages to different values, less than 100%. I manually turned the light full on (100%). Receive the event. Event executes. Nothing happens. Light stays at 100%. How do I make this link? Thanks!
Michel Kohanim
@50-50, 1. Yes, the device MUST be in the OpenADR scene 2. Although ISY tries to figure out what type of a device it is, sometimes in may fail. So, assign a device class and make sure you include wattage (Dashboard | Properties) 3. Make sure the event is actually active and has those modes. Use the event viewer to make sure nothing else is going on More information can be found here: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page#OpenADR With kind regards, Michel
50-50
Hi Michel - thanks. I am convinced everything is configured right. I get the event. It just never executes on the assets. I simplified. Used a binary switch, no dimmer. Set type to simple load (on/off). 720 watts. Issue Event. No obvious combination of event signal name/type makes it work. I can turn on/off the Auto DR "scene" from the dashboard. Just not via event. Is there some mapping available of types/names in the dashboard to OpenADR signal type/names? The link helped me setup the VEN. It has no advice for adding loads to be controlled, unless I missed it somehow? thanks! 50-
Michel Kohanim
@50-50, Binary Switch cannot be dimmed (it can be duty cycled). Please use interior lighting. Also, please make sure the evaluation interval is 5 seconds (under OpenADR Settings). With kind regards, Michel
50-50
Success! Standard Insteon Switch, non dimming setup as @Michel Kohanim suggested as Interior Lighting, watts set to non-zero value, duty cycle period (on the switch) set to 2 minutes. Ran a 6 minute event from a Certified VTN. ISY did not abide by OpenADR settings page duty cycle percent (== 25%), as I would have expected the switch to be on for approx 1.5 to 2 minutes of the 6 minute event, but it did control the switch off and then return it to prior state (pre-event) at the event expiration. VTN Event signal was SIMPLE/X_LOAD_CONTROL_SETPOINT I did set the eval freq down to 5 seconds (from 60) as Michel suggested. Thanks for you help and hope this helps someone else down the road. Tomorrow I'll play with dimming again. 50-
asbril
What is in fact AutoDR ?
Michel Kohanim
@50-50, ISY only applies price and mode signals (SIMPLE/level and SIMPLE/price). So, unless there was a miracle, I don't know how it worked. As mentioned, YOU MUST set the evaluation interval to 5 seconds if you want granular time based control. And, I don't think you understood Duty Cycle period. So 25% duty cycle of a 2 minutes period is 30 seconds on and 90 seconds off. But, regardless, with the signal you sent nothing should have worked. @asbril, OpenADR is a standard for the communications between the utilities and buildings. SCP
@50-50 Can I ask what certified VTN server/service you are using? Thanks!
