redapplenine Posted July 29, 2019 Posted July 29, 2019 I just found this - https://products.z-wavealliance.org/products/2223 I really hope it works with ISY. Has anybody tested this yet? I really like that it is made by Ingersoll Rand as they make non z-wave temperature sensors. They now have ventured into the land of zwave by taking an old form factor and making it zwave.
redapplenine Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 I finally got around to buying one and was able to connect it to the ISY. I’m not quite sure if the device listens for queries/commands sent by the ISY Or if it only periodically transmits temperature and humidity information. The ISY gives errors when I try to interact with the device or change parameters. Overall I think this device will be pretty neat when I get it working correctly. I may need to buy a Z wave range extending light bulb for optimal temperature sensor placement.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
lilyoyo1 Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 If it's wireless, most likely it won't auto update the isy constantly in order to preserve batteries. You may also need to update the parameters in it. Since wireless devices go to sleep when not in use, you can't simply query it. Range may also be an issue Be careful when using a light bulb for a repeater. Should the bulb be turned off you'll lose the repeating capabilities
redapplenine Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 I’m assuming in order to update the parameters I will have to put the device into pairing mode to wake it up?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
lilyoyo1 Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Yes. Put the numbers in. Before you hit ok or it in pairing then start the process
madcodger Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Quick question re this, please. I have some sensors that go into pairing mode by taking the battery out and reinserting it. So, would I do THAT just to make a parameter change? I guess I’m having trouble wrapping my head around how to wake something up by killing its power and then jolting it back to life, but this zwave world is very new to me.
dbuss Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 If removing the battery and reinserting the battery is the only way you can put the device in pairing mode, the answer to your question is yes. Your ISY and the device must be communicating with each other when parameters are changed.

Unfortunately the process is different with different manufacturers. Check the manual to see if they have any other processes. Some companies will auto enroll when initially powered up but have a different process once it has been added
