Will Homeseer Z-Wave Remote work with ISY?

Hi All,

I am new to Z-Wave but experienced with ISY. I'm trying Z-Wave in a new to me property, but have two buildings and am having trouble getting Z-Wave to connect between them. I do have some cat6 between them, though, so wondered if the Homeseer Z_Wave Remote (https://shop.homeseer.com/collections/on-sale-this-week/products/z-wave-network-controller) could work with ISY (without using Homeseer)? Any tried this or know?

Thanks!!

No the HomeSeer Z-Net will not work with the ISY.  I don't know what devices you are trying to access or for what purpose.  However if you are using Polyglot you can try the ISY-Net nodeserver which is in beta.  This nodeserver will mirror z-wave devices from one ISY to a primary ISY (running the nodeserver).  With this you get the functionality of status and control from the primary ISY to the remote devices.

Thanks, Simplextech. For now, as I have no experience with Polyglot, I am simply going to use ISY in one building, and Homeseer in the other. That'll get me through the winter, I hope, and perhaps I can learn a bit more about Z-wave during that time. Frankly, I'm not lovin' it so far, but that's another story. I do appreciate your reply, though.

z-wave has it's uses.  I definitely do not like it for lighting control myself.

It’s the sensor complexity that’s getting me. For example, I want a simple door sensor (on/off, open/closed), but I end up with 4-10 different things being created, most of which keep losing connection even a few feet away from the controller or a repeating device (I realize battery devices don’t repeat). Seems much worse for ISY994 than Homeseer so far, but too early to make a final judgement. I went with Z-wave because I thought it would work between the buildings better than Insteon, and because Z-wave had so many more supplers, but I fear that was a mistake. The range is laughable. Anyway, if I can get some stability I can deal with the complexity, so we’ll see. I appreciate your help though.

More isn't always better. Look at Android devices. Lol. Every situation is unique as home construction and placement of devices matters.

I've found that range with the new single is worse if you have non plus devices as part of the network. What devices are you using to repeat your signal
