Teken Posted January 20, 2020 Posted January 20, 2020 I like many others are in favor of *Things* being more efficient and safer for all. What I don't believe in is computerizing and networking all *Things* together. Anyone who is / was a fan of the most awesome Sci-Fi show Battle Star Galactica (BSG). Knows the overall premise and theme of the show is a great world of peoples were taken out and pushed to be nomads because all of their *Things* were networked and hence easy to infiltrate and exploit! The Cylons implanted a virus which disabled all of their systems and military assets because everything was networked. There hasn't been a single day since the so called Internet appeared that people have abused and caused untold financial loss and grief to the masses due to the fact almost everything is networked. I know when the following is stated here again there will be a few eye rolls and head shakes. But, I can safely offer factual links and examples of what will unfold if man continues down a path without any regard to safety & security for all. Terminator - SkyNet - End Of Days . . . Ransom Ware: https://www.csoonline.com/article/3212260/the-5-biggest-ransomware-attacks-of-the-last-5-years.html Power Grid: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_2015_Ukraine_power_grid_cyberattack Internet Shut Down: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/oct/26/ddos-attack-dyn-mirai-botnet There are literally thousands of examples of *Things* being taken over and causing untold loss and grief to consumer to the general public at large. Man has the capacity to create so much but yet our capacity to temper *Should We* is outweighed by *Lets Try - Because we can*. The 6th generation of war machines are just now being planned and dollar to donuts these *Things* will be fully automated. Just because you can do a thing ~ doesn't mean you should . . . BSG: So say we all . . .
