8 button insteon keypad question

I had to replace an 8 button insteon keypad.  It has been many years since I have had to program it or any of my insteon stuff with my isy994i.  Well, because of that time my memory fails me on how to do something to get a button to work right.  All the buttons but one made the switch fine.  The one button just doesn't do what it used to do.

I have the top left button which is the main button for our main light in the bedroom.  I have it set at 70% on and it works just great.  The button to the right of that one is a button that I had it set to full 100% on but it doesn't want to turn on.  I'm sure there is a setting that I need to set properly but I'm not sure what to do.  The other 6 buttons do what they are supposed to do but this one just won't work.  Can anyone show me the proper way?  Thanks.

When I press the top right button of the 8 buttons on the keypad, there is no response.  The light comes on in the button but there is no response to the light that it had been turning on for years.  All the other 7 buttons do what they are supposed to do. I don't know how else to explain it.

First hard reset the keypad, then restore its settings from the ISY's admin console.  If it's still broken, then replace it - a reset and restore only takes a few minutes.

Ok.  For. Upper right button to control anything, there must be an associated scene or program.  To identify your problem, you would have to identify which approach you took and double check the settings.  Furtermore, something could have changed that would introduce communication problems that would cause key devices o fail to respond.  
 

You could certainly try the suggestion of jec6613, but I am not sure that I would be quite as quick to condemn the switch if it does not work.

I have not made a scene for years.  Where can I go to refresh my memory because I have a scene made and it must be broken?  Should I remake it?  Thanks for your help.

Okay, I did the reset to no avail.  Would anyone care to give me an example of how they would set up a scene for this scenario. 

The top two buttons control the same light.  The left one is the main control of the whole keypad as you all know.  I have this button set at 70% and call it dim.  The button to the right, which controls that same light,  I want to be at 100% and I call this full. 

How would I set the proper scene to make this work?  I think I know how but would really like one of the resident experts advice. Thanks.

Create a new scene, adding both buttons, with the right button defined as a controller and left button as responder.  Make sure the responder level is set to 100%.

of course, the answer is also dependent on what you want to happen to button B when you toggle button A on/off.  Also, It could matter what do you want to happen to button B when you toggle button A on/off.

When I toggle B on, I guess it doesn't matter what happens to A.  When I toggle A on, I don't want anything to happen to B. I want them to operate independently from each other.

Also, I have that scene already created.  Could it have become corrupt or something?  Should I just make a new one?

Yes, I believe it is possible for scenes to become corrupted.  Restoring the device should normally fix that problem.  You could try that again.  You could delete the scene and add it back.  If those steps dont work, consider:

- communication problems

- faulty device

What happens when you turn on that scene via the admin console?

When I turn it on via the admin console it turns on.

Which suggests to me that it is NOT a device failure.  I would focus on 

- faulty scene definition

- corrupted links

- commnication problems

I have 2 of the large remotes in some of those scenes but since the new update to the isy994i, I have never been able to write updates to these two devices no matter where I have them in the house.  Could that be causing a problem?  Should I remove them since I don't use those remotes much if at all anymore since Alexa.

I would probably remove them from the scene and delete the devices if you don’t use them, but I am doubtful that this is the source of your problems.

Since I have removed the remotes,  everything updates within seconds now as compared to 5 minutes or more.  But, I still can't get the button to do what it did. It does not do anything.  I can get it to work from the program but not from the switch.  Suggestions?

So, another question.  Do I make the main button on the keypad that is on the top left the controller or the responder?  Do I make the one button on the top right that I want to run the same light but a different setting the controller or responder?  Thanks.

I have tried every button on this device and all work except the top right one.  I have switched scenes around with the other buttons and made adjustments to the others and all work.  Could it just be the device?

I just thought it was me not remembering what to do but I was correct in what I had been doing.  I just don't know what to do from here I guess.

Anything is possible.  I suppose the little switch behind the button could have failed.

Okay, I got it.  I did switch some things around though.  I have now since decided to make the main switch the 100% and the other one the dim one at 70%.  So, I'll just do the same thing you suggested just the opposite buttons. 

I actually have done this multiple times today.  I have tried controller and responder, both controllers, etc. but nothing seems to work.  The light comes on for the button but no one is home.

If the button light comes on when you press it, watch the admin panel from the ISY.  Does the status of that button change as you toggle it from off to on?  If so, I dont think you have a bad switch.  I am still leaning towards comm issues given your belief that the scenes are properly configured.
