I have used and know of the following methods of having the ISY notify me

Email to Email

Email to Pushover

Network resources to Tasker

Poly Push

Poly notifications

Possibly SMS?

Which method is the best in terms of reliability and speed?  I havent used the two poly's or text so i dont know the benefits.  I typically use network resources and email to pushover that gets received by Tasker.

Thanks

On what type of device do you want to receive your notifications on?

SMS is push, therefore faster than non push email. Not sure about Poly

Android.  Only thing I dont like about the text idea is from what i understand it comes from multiple different numbers.

You're correct, but you can put "From ISY" in the subject line.

Poly Push

I've switched to this (though not entirely) and it's very fast.  I like it because I wear an Apple Watch and the notifications come to my wrist so I don't have to fumble with a phone.  Much faster than email.  I've never tried to quantify it, but sub-second notifications wouldn't surprise me in some instances.  Others, certainly within two seconds.

I've always liked pushover but a couple months ago it suffered a DDOS.  So I didnt know I was missing notifications.  So how does the text work exactly?  How does it go from isy to phone?

I'm looking for a quicker way to send SMS alerts from ISY and came across this thread / Pushover.  Looking for any additional recommendations / issues I may run into.  I run the BETA versions of MacOS, iOS, iPadOS, in addition to released versions so wondering if anyone else is using Pushover in a BETA environment as well as any other recs / issues.

Thanks!

I use both the notification built into ISY and Pushover.  I believe that Pushover is slightly faster but there is not a big difference.  For the built-in notification I use my phone nr  xxx.xxxx@tmomail.com (Tmobile).

Thanks asbril, I was looking for faster, but if it's not that much faster I can get by with my normal SMS.

Pushover always arrives ahead of SMS for me.  Sometimes it almost the same, but then again sometimes its hours faster, which is a problem with the carriers gateway.  In the end I'd call Pushover more reliable.

Thanks MrBill, I'll have to give it a try.  I have a few alerts coming from programs attached to motion sensors and would like to get the alerts as fast as I can.  Right now with Verizon SMS it can take 10-15 secs.

I used NotifyMyAndroid until that service shuttered due to GDPR. I switched to Join because of how well it works with Tasker. Not sure how it compares to the other suggestions above, but thought I'd mention it in case you are a Tasker fan.

Pushover gets to my phone probably 1 or 2 seconds earlier than the ISY email. It puzzles me a bit because with the same motion sensor it takes a couple of seconds longer to switch ON a lamp and same for Alexa announcement.

my favorite example is my mailbox alert:  I get the pushover version before I've even got the door fully open.  It's very fast.

Another thing I like about Pushover is I can define priority alerts that bypass Do Not Disturb hours on my phone (iOS, but i think android too).

Different communications protocols.... the fastest being the pushover API.  it's really all about how long it takes once it leaves the ISY over the various protocols.

Holy crap!  What a difference between my Verizon SMS and Pushover.  With Pushover it's basically immediate to my iPad, iPhone, and Apple Watch, whereas SMS via Verizon takes on average 12-15 secs.

Thanks everyone, what a world of difference...
