Gammai Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 A new ISY 994i unit does not see new Smart Home PLM 2413s ( ver 2.5 ) nor older P<M 2412s ( Ver 1.A ) that worked on an earlier ISY 994i device, Using Auto Discover to establish link with the PLM fails, If I try to specify model of Insteaon Device the Model 2413s is not listed by 2414s is listed; yet chooising that model still fails to connect the 994i to the PLM. How should I proceed to find out whty the unit is now communicating. lilyoyo1 Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Did you plug the plm into the isy port A and power it up prior to powering up the ISY?
Gammai Posted March 11, 2020 Author Posted March 11, 2020 Yes.. I had the PLM 2413S plugged into the same electrical circuit as the power block for the ISY unit. I have again removed the power adapter from ISY unit , waited about a minute; while the 2413S is still powered on by 120 Vac circuit. When I then again try to add the PLM 2413s I receive message as shown in screen shot.

Once you have physically connected the 2413S PLM to the 994 Series Controller the system will detect it. You can confirm this by selecting *Tools* and in that drop down will be the PLM Status which (IF) connected correctly will show connected and the Insteon ID, Firmware, Revision.

Doing so will insure that hardware is in the default OEM state and also removes any test links / programming. - Bridging / Coupling: Almost every Insteon hardware's full users manual will call out how to complete and test for correct bridging / coupling of the split single phase electrical system. You will need to have at least two *Dual Band* devices on each leg of the homes electrical system. The 4 tap beacon test will affirm if this is present and if not you can move a device to ensure proper coupling / bridging. - Noise Maker / Signal Suckers: Almost all electronic devices emit or absorb Insteon PLC (Power Line Communications. As such you can purchase a filter from Smarthome to reduce this issue. Keeping in mind no amount of filtering will circumvent the need to either remove, replace, or filter the two. - I/O Linc: This is one of two Insteon devices which is not a dual band (RF&PLC) piece of hardware. As such you can use a long extension cord and plug it into the same outlet as the 2413S PLM in hopes of letting the signal through. - Adding Device: The easiest method is to press on the two whirling arrows. Once done a pop up will appear which tells you to press the set button on the target device. Once done, you simply press finish and the system will complete the enrollment process. The secondary method is to select the *Light Bulb* add insteon hardware icon. Write down the Insteon ID and than press on that icon and follow the prompts.
