Rootdet Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 I have noticed about 6 months now post going to ISY from the instoen hub that every single one of my switches flash red now after turning on or off. They all function, they all communicate with the ISY. but the issue persists. Wondering what i can do about it? I have some devices that would be pretty inconvenient to go around delete and readd to IS plus have to redo programs to boot.
kclenden Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 I believe the blinking red light is an indication of failed communication. Generally it means that the switch is trying to communicate with a device that is no longer installed. In your case, my guess is that each of the switches is trying to communicate with the old Insteon Hub. You probably linked each of the switches to the ISY without deleting the old Insteon Hub links. A sure fire way to fix this would be to Factory Reset each switch and then right click the switch in the Admin Console and choose "Restore Device". I don't know if a "Restore Device" automatically deletes all links before rewriting them, but as an experiment you might try doing a "Restore Device" without first doing a Factory Reset. If that works and gets rid of the blinking red light then you won't have to go around to each switch to perform a Factory Reset.
Brian H Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Factory Reset on an Insteon Module. Clears its internal Link Database and sets all its options to default. A Restore Device from the ISY994i . Writes all the links and options it knows the module had in it. Back to the module being restored. Never use the manual linking between modules. As the ISY994i will not know what you did. The flashing RED LED is a communications problem. Could also be new power line noise or signal sucker. Anything new added or moved electrically. About the same time the RED flashing started?
