ISYNewBee Posted July 13, 2020 Share Posted July 13, 2020 I am using 2 Insteon switched outlets to control my low voltage transformers for outdoor lights. One of them works fine. The other one won't communicate with the controller. The one I'm having trouble with is less that 50 feet from the house, newer dual band unit. I had it behind a switch, but I hard wired it and still can't access it. The other's that do work, are actually further from the house. Anyone with ideas, please respond. First action items are to go into the Admin Console (AC) and download both system and error logs. Once done clear both logs and set the logging to level 3. Activate the offending switch and watch how many hops are left / error messages. Download and copy them here for review. Next go read and download the full users manual for the outlet and complete the 4 tap beacon test to insure both sides of the split single phase system electrical system is properly coupled and bridged.Complete the 4 tap beacon test in both directions.The next step is to unplug one or more items until you are able to activate the outlet from the AC. Ideally you would unplug everything as this will surely save you more time than to do one item at a time! You can always turn off banks of breakers at the service panel but understand this can and will impact the coupling / bridging you tried to ensure! Using a combination of both can help isolate hard to reach appliances and fixtures like fridge, sump, well, HVAC, etc.Any cell related / audio video / gaming consoles should always be suspect.
