bbb2008 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Under the configuration tab I tried a couple of things. I've selected general mail and entered my email address. I also enterred my smtp settings and tried the default option. The smtp fails the tests. Is there a good post on this subject or any advice?
Michel Kohanim Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Hello bbb2008, Make sure there's at least one recipient. If that does not work, please try the following SMTP settings: Server: smtp.gmail.com Port: 587 Userid: alerts@gmail.com Password: holamola Timeout: 3000 Use TLS: checked If this works, then the problem is with your SMTP settings. If not, then, in all likelihood, your ISY cannot get to the Internet. Can you synch your clock with an NTP server? This will let us know if ISY can get to the Internet. With kind regards, Michel Under the configuration tab I tried a couple of things. bbb2008 Posted September 28, 2009 Author Posted September 28, 2009 When I put in your smtp settings I received a request failed. I manually changed the clock setting then hit sync now. The time returned back to the corrrect time.
Zellarman Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Running the latest beta, downloaded and installed it today, hoping it would fix my non functioning notification, but it hasn't. I tried the test you suggested for BB2008 but didn't know what to fill in for the 'from' field, so I left it blank, and the test failed, however I can sync my clock w/ an NTP server. What should I try next?
Michel Kohanim Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 bbb2008 and Zellarman, In this case, it would be great if you could check the logs in your router to see if SMTP traffic to port 587 is being blocked. Please note that some ISPs block known SMTP ports to force you to go through their own servers. With kind regards, Michel
bbb2008 Posted October 3, 2009 Author Posted October 3, 2009 I changed to another address that uses smtp 25. It still times out. The above address using smtp 25 works on webcam xp running on the same computer.
