ISY constantly BUSY after reboot.

It has been a while since I have done any programing since I don't spend the Summer Weekends trouble shooting but fall is here at last and I have attempted to pick up the ball again and fine tune my Insteon Network. I am sure you will be hearing more from me as we move into the Winter months.

That being said, I have an ISY 99ir firmware 2.7.6 and over 100 insteon devices in my home. Everything has been working to about 85-90% reliability. Still striving for 95-100%.

This weekend I replaced a SWD that I have been having constant communication failure with. After I swapped it out, I did the "discover new device" routine. After the device was discovered and the browser shut down, I went to log back in to the ISY. After I did, the System Busy progess bar ran for over 20 minutes. After it stopped, I tried to Replace the New Device settings with the old device setting, but I do not have that option. I can only replace the old device settings with the new device setting which does me no good as the old device has 20 links to it. I tried rebooting again and I get the 20 + minutes of system busy. I will admit that I am rusty with programming but what am I missing?

Hello MV,

The first thing I would recommend is to reboot ISY, login to Admin Console, go to Tools | Diagnostics | PLM Status/Info. If it says disconnected, then that is where the problem is.

The second thing would be to go to Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer, choose level 3, capture the events for about 2 minutes, and then send it to support@universal-devices.com. In short, if you see too many INST-ACK but no INST-RSP for each ACK, then the problem is that for some reason your PLM cannot communicate with the rest of your network.

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks Michel,

The PLM was connected after I rebooted. I am Looking at the event viewer on Level 3 and there does seem to be a response for every ACK. ( See Below)

2009/10/06 08:15:08 : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 0F.C5.BC 0F 28 00 06 SET-MSB(00)

2009/10/06 08:15:08 : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 0F.C5.BC 0F.43.14 2B 28 00 SET-MSB(00)

I could only copy and paste one line at a time out of the event viewer.

Problem is, I can't seem to save the log to a file while it is in " System busy" mode. It has been running for over 20 minutes and is still running.

I need to go to work now so if I can send you the log later, I will.

Any Ideas with the second part of my initial question regarding the device replacement issue?

Yes I have. We could not get to the bottom of the 45 + minutes system busy. I did not have the Query on Reboot checked on the config. page Bug Perhaps? Learned that you can't " replace" a device if it is in a folder, and that I may have an issue with a couple of SWD.

Hi Michaelv,

You may have programs that are running at startup. What you might want to do is to disable all your programs and retry. To disable all your programs, please go to My Lighting folder, uncheck All, and then add it to the if statement. This will cause an On Never condition to be applied to your folder in which case it disables all programs to run.

Furthermore, you might want to check the status of your programs in the Program Summary tab to make sure that you do not have any programs that Run at Startup.

With kind regards,

Michel
