SMS Gateways

I am currently using a verizon sms gateway for my ISY emergent notifications ( XXXXXXX@vtxt.com). Works fine but I am considering switching carriers to ALtice who does not provide sms gateways. Does anyone know of a free gateway service for low volume email to sms?

use Pushover instead.  it's much faster.

From the ISY you can send emails to an address much like SMS, or create network resources, or use either of 2 nodeservers specific to pushover.

Thanks for the response. I use mobi linc for push notifications and isy for email notifications but I need texting for more emergent messages like an alarm or water leak as I don’t always run to check pushes. It looks like I can use IFTTT for limited texting but looking for a more direct process like a universal Sms gateway so I can use the ISY text option.

Beware that 2 days ago IFTTT introduced a subscription model.  You only get 3 free applets now.

I just use Pushover for all now (sort of, there's a complicated exception) and I do duplicate everything to a dedicated email address that uses a separate email app on my phone for redundancy.

Another advantage of Pushover is Critical Alerts (iOS, but I think there is android version too that actually was available first) that can be configured to bypass Do Not Disturb hours set on the whole device.

Does pushover send SMS too or just push? I have IOS so I can’t customize push notification sounds. With Sms I can customize alerts so I can immediately figure out if it’s urgent. That’s what I’m going for here.

Pushover does not send SMS.

check out pushover, you can change sounds

and as previously mentioned you can override iOS do-not-disturb with a priority 2 message.
