dbwarner5 Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 I have an Elk rule that at 11Pm, the voice gets disabled. and then at 7am it gets re-enabled. Meanwhile at 6am, my ISY controller disarms my system for me as part of a morning routine. No announcement is made, as expected. Then, later in the day, if I have some other ISY driven ELK announcement (ie: Garage door is Open), it always starts with "Area 1 disarmed, " then continues onto the new announcement. It is as if the 6am announcement gets saved in a que and then once the voice is re-enabled and a new message needs to be communicated, it dumps what is in the que first... Have posted this in the Elk Forum, but no activity. Any thoughts anyone? Thanks,
BamBamF16 Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Maybe similar to https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/29590-disabled-voice-stores-old-messages-when-enabled/?
blueman2 Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 FYI, this is a regular occurrence with me as well. But mine will actually mix 2 messages together, blending words from each phrase. Sometimes it is quite funny. I never bothered to figure out why it was happening. But yes, it is definitely a bug with ELK.
dbwarner5 Posted October 5, 2020 Author Posted October 5, 2020 @bambamf16 @blueman2 Thanks for the link to my post from April.. lol. Had forgotten about it completely. I have since cleaned up my Elk and still get the same situation. Blueman, thanks for collaborating what I have been seeing. I guess I will live with it and / or send a note to Elk Products and see what they say.
NHWA Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 This was an issue for me too. Years ago I programmed my elk to turn off the speaker for 30 sec and speak after an arm/disarm so that there wasn't anything stored.
dbwarner5 Posted October 9, 2020 Author Posted October 9, 2020 @NHWA thanks..I’ll have to think about that.. i do all my programiong in Isy. This is the only elk programming i have done, so will have to explore how to do that. Currently i have the page out connected to a whole house system, so am not sure if that would be different.
