mflieger Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 I've noticed that I have much more flexibility in setting up mutually exclusive buttons in Smarthome's Houselinc 2 software than the ISY's v2.7.6 version. Specifically, I'm able to set ANY number of combinations of mutually exclusive sets of buttons NOT just the two supported by v2.7.6. Please take a look at the functionality Smarthome offers for programming their KPLs HouseLinc 2 and provide the same functionality in a future version of the ISY software. I'm running KPL version 2486D v.2D Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request.
Michel Kohanim Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Hello mflieger, Thanks so very much for your input and we do surely take all feedback/suggestions quite seriously and implement them quickly. I think ISY and HouseLinc have different terminology. Mutually Exclusive button means that when one button [in the group] is On, the others [in the same group] will be Off. Now, since each MuteX Button Group requires AT LEAST two buttons then, naturally, only two MuteX Button Groups are permissible for a 5 button KPL. And, likewise, for an 8 button KPL, only 4 MuteX Button Groups are permissible. mflieger Posted October 22, 2009 Author Posted October 22, 2009 Hi Michael: This is a little challenging to explain but, I'll give it a try via a specific example. Using HouseLinc 2 and a 5 button KPL, I'm able to do the following that I can't seem to do with my ISY: To keep matters simple, if we assign the letters A, B, C and D to the four small buttons on a KPL, I can use HouseLinc to: 1. Turn off A, B, and C when D is turned on AND 2. Turn off D when A is turned ON - WITHOUT effecting B or C. In other words, I'm able to set the following pairs of exclusive buttons: 1. D + A 2. D + B 3. D + C Since I've already accomplished this using the Houselinc 2 software, why can't I use the ISY software to set it up the same way? When a moved from Houselinc 2 to ISY, I lost this ability (and gained many other great capabilities) Am I being clear as mud? Regards, Mark
Michel Kohanim Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Hi Mark, Thanks SO very much. No, it's not clear as mud but as crystal! I will add this to the list of our requirements and though it will have low priority, but it might be done soon since it's implementation is not that difficult. The naming should also be changed since what you are describing does not denote mutual exclusivity. Thanks again for your feedback, With kind regards, Michel
