Using Win32Disc to create Image of IY994i SD card

My SD card is getting old and I am wondering if I made an image of my SD card using Win32Disc would be a good precaution.  Has anyone taken this approach.  I realize that the Wiki has instructions to replace a card but wondering if creating an image would be better. 

I realize I may have to download a new release if that was different and my latest backup

Any thoughts would be appreciated
