oper8
I have only one Lock now, the second was a constant pain and I took it off. As for repeaters, yes I have one Aeotec in between but I presume the lock connects directly to ISY - I have no way to see this with ver. 5.3.0.... wingman1487
I guess it wouldn't matter much, I have 3 of them all with varying paths that they take, even one that shows direct connected to the ISY and even that one gives me problems. You can generate the same by opening up your Event Viewer, then right clicking on the Lock and going to Z-Wave > Show Information in Event Viewer (like the attached). oper8
This is extremely helpful ! Thanks wingman1487 ! I did not know I can see the z-wave routes and nodes information. This can explain a lot of issues and can help troubleshoot the z-wave mesh. In my case the Schlage lock connects via 2 other nodes before reaching ISY. io_guy
For the me newer ZP locks just didn't play nice with the ISY. With a Z-Wave 300 ISY and non-ZP BE469 locks, I used a GE outlet next to each door and it worked 100% of the time. Once I moved to the Z-Wave 500 ISY the non-ZP locks were useless. They would only pair at 1' away from the ISY and would not communicate (directly or through repeaters). I updated the repeaters to 500-series (Aeotec) and it improved things but they were maybe 85% reliable going through the repeaters. Once I switched to a Z-Wave USB stick my issues went away since the locks now have no issue talking directly to the controller. Hopefully when the ISY moves to Polisy the BE469ZP issues will be resolved (stronger Z-Wave controller signal). I use a 700-series stick now and the locks talk directly without any issues. KSchex
@io_guy and all, thanks for the posts. I too had a similar experience with 500 series and a new Sledge. I didn't want to deal with it and my long time working ISY so I returned the lock. Best of luck.
wingman1487
@io_guy when you say you have a 700 series USB stick, where do you have that installed? Do you have a Pi somewhere running it or is there a way to use it with the ISY itself? I updated to the 500 series internal board a while back from the 300 that came with my ISY, sounds like this is yet another upgrade needed? No it's not an ISY thing (that's why I mentioned waiting for the ISY to move to Polisy). I use Home Assistant for Z-Wave.
piconut
I had two of the Schlage BE469NX Z-Wave locks and 3 or 4 Aeotec repeaters and a couple wired outlets and switches, and the two locks would intermittently work with the ISY. I basically had alot of the same problems as others are mentioning here. I should also point out that I have the 500 series board and am running v5.0.14. The other odd thing that would happen occasionally is that one of the locks would simply stop responding to touch input on the outer keypad even though the batteries were almost new (this particular issue was unrelated to the ISY). I would have to reboot the Schlage locks (unplug the battery pack) and then they would work for while. I called Schlage and was very nice talking with them and explained how I was using these in an integrating home automation system and that among other things, the keypads would just go blank and the locks would fall off the Z-Wave network while all my other Z-Wave devices stayed connected without any problems. Long story even slightly longer, Schlage replaced both of mine with the newer BE469ZP versions for free and once I installed those and got them working, they have never had any issues. I send programming commands and changes to those locks at least twice a day and they have been flawless for over a year now. I had the previous BE469NX locks for less than 2 years (which I think was the warranty period). So my suggestion to you is if you have the non-Z-Wave plus version of the BE469 lock, call Schlage technical support and just be nice and mention that yours have been doing the same things as mine have. Your mileage may vary. Scott from Austin Edited June 25, 2021 by piconut
Irakandjii
FYI for locks, make sure the repeaters are paired to the mesh in secure mode. For example, the aeotec repeaters default to non-secure mode when you pair them unless specifically told to pair securely. Just one of those easy to miss things that mess up door locks.
