Can this signal not be detected in ISY? Is it an analogue value or a binary (on/off) style signal?

I got a over a year with the original batteries that came with them.  I try to test them quarterly for peace of mind.  They have performed well in testing and two actual leaks.

What would be really nice is if you could post a screen shot from the ISY admin console of the device's status page, so people could see the parameters that are available in ISY.

This device throws off many useless nodes.  I've renamed some and segregated them for filing.  It actively reports water alarm, temperature and tamper.  I report but don't use temp data however the parameter settings posted earlier suggest it could be used for temperature limits.  I have never tried to confirm its accuracy.  I have found the easiest way to get a battery report is to remove and replace the battery.

Water detection is my objective and I use these in conjunction with ELK security system where I can't use wired sensors.

First of all, thanks for asking this question because it made me realize that my sensor's battery was at zero !!!!!

The sensor that I have is a Dome .I think that it works well and I remember testing it (splashing some water on it) when I first installed the sensor.

I now created a program alerting  (with an email) when the  sensor's battery goes below 10 % .

I see it has two distinct pages related to battery status. Also I see a security page that may be related to sensor health. It would be nice to have screen shots of the those status pages, also.

I would think any modern sensor would have some kind of a heartbeat signal that tells the user it even exists and is functioning.

I've had decent results with the Fibaro FGFS-101-EN

Its reliable, and the only thing that's odd is that the temperature is only available in degrees Celsius.

Battery is CR123A and life is over a year.

There are humidly sensors, and there are water/leak sensors.  At this point I don't know of a sensor that includes both of those in a single unit.  It would seem that to be alerted if the carpet start getting wet you would want a water sensor strategically located close to where the water source originates.  Humidty is a trailing indicator, by the time it rises the carpet is probably already soaked, when it falls again might be a good indicator of when dryness has returned.

the homeseer detector comes with an external probe while I think it is optional for the Fibaro... I think they are identical hardware... the detector is very sensitive and already responds to the least amount of moisture: the carpet does not need to be soaked before there is an alarm...

I purchased the Fibaro Flood Sensor. I dont have many z-wave devices so setting one up that connects to z-wave controller is a bit confusing.

3- Locate the Sensor nearby the main z-wave controller     ?????? ( what is the z-wave controller exactly.. it is not the ISY right?)

For those interested to up their game as it relates to leak detection and actually do something when present. I’ve been using the Flood Stop hardware since it’s first release.

This is a small home grown American company that offers automated valves for washer, sinks, toilets, water main, and hot water tank.

All of mine are integrated with Insteon and the ISY Series Controller where upon a leak detection the system will send out and initiate verbal (Julie U.S) alerts, email, SMS, and display the same on custom KPL buttons and my Reader Board.

Because all of the above is directly tied to the point of use and water main. You absolutely limit the amount of water damage happening if a leak is present!

This is coupled by a huge safety margin by removing power to that end device so there’s almost no possibility of personal electrocution or something running dry and burning up. No water, electricity, means less damage and loss of life.

Fantastic American hardware and outstanding maker of this product.

That doesn't seem consistent with what little I know about z-wave.  When you choose Z-Wave > Add a Z-wave Device you should see a window where the ISY is listening for new devices: image.png.6fc464bc4f5c47cdd7ea3fafc5be446e.png

Keep in mind that z-wave is a mesh network.  When adding new devices it's typically best to add it very close to the ISY.  Because the range of z-wave is fairly low you may need to add other devices to create the mesh network.  @lilyoyo1 has a pretty good post on this somewhere but I don't keep it booked marked, so I'll just tag him so he can add his comments.
