smokegrub Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 A couple of days ago I updated JAVA to Update 311. Thereafter, access to a remote ISY using The Launcher has slowed to a crawl. I am using the following: MacBook Pro 2019 Mac 10.14.6 Mojave Memory: 16 GB Firmware: 4.9.0 UI: 4.9.0 Before proceeding further permit me to note that long before my current problem developed the Launcher stopped working in its traditional manner saying, “You can’t use this version of the application “ISY Launcher with this version of macOS. You have macOS 10.14.6. The application requires macOS 10.15 or later.” That problem was addressed by placing the “start.jnlp” icon on the desktop and using it to start ISY. Since updating JAVA I can still access the remote ISY using this method but things have showed to a crawl. I recently was at the remote location and accessing the “home” location presented the same problem. MobiLinc Pro accesses both sites without problem. I have rebooted the Mac a few times. I have deleted and reinstalled the JAVA update. I have checked the Mac with Malwarebytes. The problem remains. I must continue using Mojave at this time since I have a very important app that will not run with an OS update. Suggestions?
MrBill Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 To clarify, did you put start.jnlp on the desktop? or admin.jnlp? start.jnlp is the ISY launcher, admin.jnlp is the admin console being started separately without the help of the ISY launcher. I'd try to get admin.jnlp from the ISY with https://<IP.of.the.ISY>/admin.jnlp (replace <IP.of.the.ISY> with the actual IP address, so the end result will look more like https://192.168.1.22/admin.jnlp but with your ISY IP address. MacOS will warn you, tell you the file is not trusted and shouldn't be used blah blah... but the file is coming from your ISY not the internet, so ignore the warnings. I think you must use https (not http) on a mac but I'm really not positive on that point since I don't have a Mac. I assume both ISY's are on 4.9? if not you need a separate admin.jnlp file for each ISY.
smokegrub Posted November 3, 2021 Author Posted November 3, 2021 (edited) Start.jnlp was a part of the download from UDI. Historically, as I recall, only the Launcher appeared on the desktop. Now, both the Launcher and start.jnlp appear. Double-clicking the Launcher produces the error message. Double-clicking start.jnlp launches the admin console. Both ISY's are on 4.9. smokegrub Posted November 3, 2021 Author Posted November 3, 2021 Don't know how or why but the problem resolved itself! Don't care! Thanks for your efforts trying to help me. 1

Quote - Open the Java Control Panel, select Java tab, press View button, then add or modify the Runtime Parameter -Xmx to the following: o -Xmx512m Since you have 16GB memory maybe increase the 512 to 1024. Again, I'm not sure if this would apply to MAC as well or if this is Win specific modification. Hopefully other mac users can chime in with what they've done. It's very odd that some mac users get the launcher to work without issues, but others have a lot of problems. It's just an ongoing battle with java and os trying to block it a little more with every update. I think @MrBill has the best suggestion of being sure you're getting the admin console (admin.jnlp) directly from the ISY. It's just that macOS tries to block the file, but there's no problem with it since you're getting it directly from the ISY. 1

theedudenator Posted November 3, 2021 Posted November 3, 2021 Should use Linux and deal with Java.I am to the point of looking for something aside from ISY cause of the use of unsupported JavaSent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
