Time data on PG3 stopped working

@glarsen Time data had been running fine but noticed recently some calendar based programs not running. PG3 reported the node server was not running. Spent the evening trying to fix it.

Deleted and tried to install but PG3 complained that node server time data file not found.

I noticed the firmware date for time data was 1/23/2022 so just within the last week. Is it possible there is a glitch in the new file, or its missing in the store?

I am on the latest PG3 and ISY-Polisy.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Tim

Sorry, I missed this message.  It's been a couple of weeks now....have you had any success in getting this NS to run?

What version of ISY, PG3 and TimeData are you using?

Thanks.

Starting to add Nodeservers to ISY on Polisy and wanted to checkout TimeData. Clicking the name on the latest PG3 Nodeserver Store results in the following error:

{"error":"Authentication Error"}

Searching the UD repository on Github doesn't show TimeData either.

I wanted to read a little about configuration and capabilities before purchasing. Is there a working link for information?

Can you also confirm if TimeData is fully functional for PG3?

Thanks.

I'm getting the Authentication Error too. I can't speak for the developer, @glarsen, but I can tell you the PG3 version works. The instructions are the same as the versions that runs on Polyglot (Raspberry Pi) , Polisy (Polyglot V2) and Cloud (PGC):

You can always try it under the trial license that pops up after you click the Purchase button in the store:

Thanks for confirming it works fine. I don't get the Trial License under purchase license, only Perpetual License option shows for me.

That implies that you already used the trial at one point.  Check the Purchases menu on PG3 to see what node servers you've purchased/trial'ed.  If it's not showing up there as a TRIAL then either something is wrong or @glarsenremoved the trial option.

The documentation link is incorrect for the node server, that's something @glarsenwill have to correct.

Since I already own TImedata, I pulled the screen from another nodeserver as an example. Sorry if that's not true for Timedata.

No, I have never owned this Nodeserver. Earlier today, I purchased both Weatherflow and Elk Nodeservers and neither of them showed a trial offer.

Here is a screenshot from the Notification Nodeserver as an example.

Not all node servers offer a trial.  I don't know why WeatherFlow doesn't (it should, I just haven't gotten around to enabling it).

I just tried to purchase a trial version of this NS and have never used it either before. I guess there isn't a trial option for it, so I passed on it. While I think it would be cleaner, I'm just not sure it's going to be better than the reliable (if kludgy) solution I've been using since the pre-PG / 4.x days https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i_Generic_Calendar_Using_Programs_and_Variables.

I noticed trials I had "purchased" had expired (including your Weatherflow NS, @bpwwer) and I never got a notified (or charged), as I thought would happen. I did pay for them as soon as I realized but it might be worth implementing a reminder. It's an easy thing to forget, and maybe that's why some don't offer trials?

If you're running a trial version (and same applies to a subscription purchase). PG3 will notify you that it is about to expire.

At 14 days before it expires it will put a message in the log

At 10 days before it expires it will put a message in the log

at 5 days before it expires it will put a message in the log and display a notice

at 2 days before it expires it will put a message in the log and display a notice

After it has expired it will log the fact and display a notice when you try to start the node server

For a trial, if you purchase a non-trial license before the trial expires, it will use the purchased license and ignore the trial license and you won't get any notices because you are no longer using the trial license.

Now this could be broken, it is very difficult for me to test since the purchasing system won't let me generate trial licenses for my own node servers and once you purchase one and it expires, you can't purchase it again.

so I didn't see any of that. Just went into "Purchases" section out of curiosity and it simply said "expired". I didn't try to restart the affected NS so maybe would have seen something in that case. too late to test that now. sorry.

edit: also searched today's log for "expired" and nothing was found

It will only report anything if the node server is actually running at the time.    Unfortunately, PG3 doesn't have any good way to notify about things like this.  It doesn't have a email address nor any way to actually send email. Same for text.  The ISY doesn't have any API's that would allow PG3 to route notifications like this through it.

All it's left with is to send a notification to the UI, but that only happens if both the UI and the node server is running at the time.

And it's possible that it's broken in 3.0.63. I've made hundreds of changes and fixes since then and don't recall if any of those fixes relate to the expiring of trial/subscriptions.
