Geddy Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 @apodsim in addition to the questions from @MrBill can you describe how you're trying to access the Admin Console? It sounds like you might be using an old method of web page to launch the admin console with Java. Just for reference, what Firmware are you running (or do you think you're running since you can't currently get into the Admin Console to confirm)? The current method to access the Admin Console is to use the Launcher referenced in this post: This works best for Windows users. Sometimes Mac users have reported different results (success and failures), but I'd say it's probably 100% working for Windows users (even Win11 machines, but not confirmed personally). You can find the steps to install in the Wiki as well. You need to go through the clearing the Java cache process - make sure you check/select all three boxes in that process. Once you download the launcher and run the file it should add an icon to your desktop that looks like this: Now, you just have to run this shortcut and it should find your ISY and get you back in business. Make sure to note that now you'll have a "Lan/Cloud" option now for Admin Console. If you are on the local network they are mostly interchangeable. The Cloud option will download the appropriate file from UD servers to match your ISY firmware. The LAN option will download directly from the local unit - sometimes this is slower if you're accessing the ISY994 as it is encrypting the transfer, but it too makes sure that the user interface (UI) matches the Firmware (FW).
apodsim Posted March 4, 2022 Author Posted March 4, 2022 (edited) I am running Windows 10 using JAVA JRE 32 bit Version 8 Update 321 downloaded from Official JAV website which was was working with the Admin colsole previously. My ISY backup shows version 4.9. Both admin and startup .jnlp links downloaded form the UD WiKi produce the same error launching from a pinned Administrative Console in the startup menu. Two things: First, follow @Geddy instruction above to use the ISY launcher. It's a new method that been around since 2018 that takes a lot of the quesswork away. Second, Could you link the wiki page you downloaded from. Sometimes there are pages people have book marked that are no longer accurate. I want to read an follow the exact instructions that you followed and see if I can reproduce your experience. You're not the first lately to report that dialog as shown in your screenshot, but you're the first that given exact steps to how they got there. 1
apodsim Posted March 7, 2022 Author Posted March 7, 2022 I did follow the instructions from @Geddy which I found as a possible soultion from other users having this problem before creating this post. When I run the dowloaded start.jnlp another program dialog box appears that apparently uses JAVA programming lanuage. I attempted to associate *.jnlp however, it is technically not a program in windows as such I was not able to change the file association.

For example I've never had to change windows file associations for .jnlp files. I would suggest uninstalling java via windows settings (formally the control panel). Then double check windows\Program Files and windows\Program FIles x86 to make certain you don't have anymore installs (at one time multiple java versions could be installed at the same time). Then double check \Users\[user]\AppData\ for anything named Sun or Java and deleting it. There is also a Java uninstall tool if you have difficulty with the uninstaller. Then reinstall java 8 (currently update 321) from https://java.com/en/ Edit to add: You might want to run the free version of MalwareBytes too. Perhaps the java installation is damaged by some malware. Edited March 7, 2022 by MrBill 1
apodsim Posted March 9, 2022 Author Posted March 9, 2022 I submitted a Trouble Ticket to UDI support and was able to resolve the issue with a remote in from support. The problem was apparently caused by a program on my computer that changed the .jnlp extension association. Another action support did was to open the JRE Control Panel along with clearing the cache, the check box "Installed Applications and Applets" was selected. Before this was done the Java Cache Viewer did not list the ISY Launcher as shown below. 1
