djordan2 Posted March 4, 2022 Posted March 4, 2022 I haven't programmed my ISY99i in years and now I'm running into issues. I lost my last install when my C drive was lost so I reloaded Java and the Admin Console. The console now tells me that "Version 4.9.0 is now available!", but the Help menu doesn't come up when I click on it so I can't do an auto update or even determine what version of the firmware is currently installed. The File menu icons are all grey and the Tools menu doesn't work either. I also can't delete a controller from the main tab, so I'm assuming I need to upgrade to get the console working. What is my best option here?

If you're actually using the 994 as asked by @lilyoyo1 (I suspect you are since you're seeing a 4.9 available message) then please clear your java cache including installed applications and applets, next delete any files named admin.jnlp or start.jnlp , then install the ISY Launcher which is a newer method to run the admin console. I've linked the thread but essentially all you need to do once java is cleared is click the link https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp then run the downloaded file. The first time start.jnlp is run it will install a desktop icon called "ISY Launcher" which makes it easy to always run the correct version of the admin console. The launcher make it's debut in the summer of 2018 is by far the best .method as it ends confusion. 2
djordan2 Posted March 5, 2022 Author Posted March 5, 2022 (edited) Thanks MrBill for the solution to my problem. I do indeed have an ISY994i ZW/IR PRO. I believe I used to have the ISY99i but replaced it with this model a few years back when the first broke and just forgot that I had done so. It's a testament to overall reliability that I haven't had to think about it once in many years of operation. I had performed all those steps previously with the exception of clearing the applications and applets so that must have been the cause of the failure to properly install. I now have the icons and menus back. The only issue left is the Appliance Module I just put back into the system is failing but that is probably a hardware issue. It showed that it turned on and off in the system but remained on even though I am hearing the relay latch. Edited March 5, 2022 by djordan2

Factory reset on a 2635 On/Off plug in module is a confusing batch of presses and taps... it's documented in this PDF.

Continue to hold until beeping stops.

Not sure why they list the steps the way they did Like I said, if it works it's undocumented. I do have one, but not one that needs to be factory reset, so I'll skip the exercise. This is just another reason that Smartlabs/Smarthome/insteon attracts negativity... they change things up and document weirdly. the documented method does work, I've used it in the past.
djordan2 Posted March 5, 2022 Author Posted March 5, 2022 I'm pretty sure it's the old version because it's got only one button. I found the manual for it and it does reset with the hold and plug in method, but that doesn't make a difference. I also disabled load sensing and that did nothing. I press the button on the module and hear the relay latch but the light stays on. It appears to be broken.
