Kentinada Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 I've been reading articles on Google for the best Z-wave garage door controller. GoControl comes up a lot but is not available. MyChamberlain shows up too but I don't think it's Z-wave or compatible with Alexa. I want a reliable Z-wave controller I can add to my Overhead Door opener that is Alexa compatible. Any suggestions? Does one exist?
MrBill Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 Zooz Zen17 is the device roughly equivalent to the insteon I/O Linc except Zen17 is 2 in one. You'd need to create programs in the ISY to operate the door operator. That's also assuming the door operator is compatible with a standard push button. What make and model is your door operator?
Kentinada Posted May 23, 2022 Author Posted May 23, 2022 @MrBill, it's an Overhead Door model 1026. Is there an IOS app the Zooz? If I only need one switch sensor, is the Zen16 usable? Isn't it one sensor?

It states it must be used with the included wall control which might make it more difficult. If a normal doorbell button can be wired to the door to actuate it, you shouldn't have any problem adapting it to the zooz. On the other hand, if the operator ONLY works with the included control, you might need to get out your soldering gun and track down the actual button pad on the circuit board to wire a momentary button. I really don't know very much about the Zooz product line or what apps it has available.

I'm trying to be able to deliver a momentary pulse from a Z-Wave device, and I bought a GoControl GD00z-04 on ebay, then I find out that you need a tilt device linked to the GoControl for it to work. I tracked one down and it does work for a garage door open/close but I want to use it just for the momentary pulse, which it will not do, as it needs the tilt switch to "tilt". I'm willing to sell this as it's not what I need. What I am using now is a eWelink to open/close my garage door/gate/2nd garage door. Works with Alexa/Google which I picked up on ebay.

The writer opened his controller and found the appropriate contacts there, not at the opener. I have the Zooz Zen16(the 3 channel model) and it works well for other things. I don't use it on my garage door. If you Google for "Zooz Zen17 advanced settings", you should see all the configuration parameters available. I was able to set these parameters with my Polisy.

I have Zooz light switches and motion detectors that work fine, but I could not make the Zen 51s work and it was a pain to get a refund.
mmb Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 I have an older Chamberlain and used Insteon equipment to do mine. Obviously that will be a problem. I presume you're asking for z-wave because your Chamberlain doesn't support MyQ?
