layten Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 I am running windows 11, and when I try to access Programs tab using LAN, the system hangs. Everything works fine when using Cloud. The Error file indicates that the admin programs tab is trying to access an old IP, not the current IP of the ISY. I think I have deleted all the JAVA temporary files (reloaded Java). I don't know where to look but suspect that it may be getting that address from my unifi network somehow. Everything appears to be working correctly except the programs tab. Any ideas? Thanks, Larry llayten@gmail.com
Techman Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 What is your firmware and UI versions? Are you using the ISY Launcher to access your ISY?
layten Posted June 29, 2022 Author Posted June 29, 2022 Yes, I am using hte Launcher. the first (top image) is the Cloud About, and the second one is the LAN About.
layten Posted June 29, 2022 Author Posted June 29, 2022 This is the error log. This was the IP of the ISY before I moved it to another LAN segment.
Techman Posted June 29, 2022 Posted June 29, 2022 (edited) It appears that there's a password/authentication error when you use the LAN Make sure that AUTOMATIC DHCP is enabled in the ISY configuration Are you using the latest version of Java 8? Try cleaning your Java cache including all installed applications, then download the ISY launcher. Edited June 30, 2022 by Techman

Somehow the cloud process isn’t matching FW/UI. You should clear Java cache (make sure you select all three boxes in the process), download a fresh start.jnlp (ISY launcher) and run that to get the icon on your desktop again. Once you’ve done that connect with the cloud method again and go only to menu -> Help -> About and make sure Firmware and UI match EXACTLY. Your current mismatch on the cloud option is what’s causing the issue with the program tab. Make sure you delete any old downloads of start.jnlp or admin.jnlp that might exist ANYWHERE on your computer. This saves you from accidentally using an old/outdated download. And make sure you’re using Java 8 downloaded directly from Java.com and not some random location or random version of Java.
layten Posted June 30, 2022 Author Posted June 30, 2022 I will download everything again tomorrow. The authentication failure is because of the old IP I am pretty sure. Does it use DNS to get the IP?.. if so … it may be something with my UniFi Network. I will try deleting the isy from the network and see what that does . I will let you know how it goes once I can get back on my system. ( I have a wife that I have to keep happy. ) It also is strange that it only fails on the LAN Program tab. Everything else works great. Not a really big issue since everything works on the Cloud instansiation. Thanks for your help. Larry
layten Posted June 30, 2022 Author Posted June 30, 2022 Status Update: I have done a new install of java on a different windows 11 computer, and I get the same results. I have "forgotten" the isy device on my unify network, restarted the ISY, and I get the same results. Quote
Geddy Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 4 hours ago, layten said: I get the same results Are you using vlans on the unify product? Are you certain you can communicate between the two? Put the laptop/PC on the same network and try again. From the router can you see an ISY device? The MAC address should be the same as the UUID. If you have ISY Portal account does the ISY show online when you log into my.isy.io? The ISY994 doesn't use DNS, but should be fed an IP address from the DHCP device on your network. Unless, you had the device itself with a static IP and somehow changed your network to a different subnet. Then the ISY994 wouldn't be able to reattach because it is trying the static IP coded into the firmware. This is why it's always better to handle DHCP reservations from the router for the MAC of the ISY994 (or Polisy for that matter). Confirm that you can see the ISY994 from your router. If you see it is attached and still cannot get connected after trying the steps in the earlier post then it's time to open a ticket with Universal Devices and hope they can get you squared away. Submit a Ticket: https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets Email: support@universal-devices.com Good luck! Please post back what you finally do to resolve this...or if you go through support what steps are done to resolve this. So it might help others that might have similar issues down the road.
layten Posted June 30, 2022 Author Posted June 30, 2022 Yes, I am using vlans. I moved the isy from one vla to another. I can access the isy from the new vlan (all functions work on the new vlan except the programs tab, which tries to go to the old IP/vlan.) on the LAN access, but everything works normally using Cloud access. A pertinent point: I believe that some point on the first IP/VLAN, I believe that I had the IP statically assigned, not DHCP I will open a ticket. Thanks Larry
Geddy Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 @layten What's the current FW/UI versions? After you cleared cache and downloaded a new launcher (as suggested above). Rather than going to the programs tab go to Help -> About and checking that those versions match EXACTLY. Above they don't match. Oh....Got it! You've got the wrong Firmware loaded to your ISY! Your Firmware is showing "OADR". Are you running Insteon devices with a PLM? The OADR is usually for the firmware for those WITHOUT a PLM. You need to change the Firmware (just download 5.3.4 (from here). Get the file linked: ISY 994i Series including Z-Wave support With a PLM the FW/UI should match like this: THAT is most likely your issue. Did you recently upgrade or has it always been this way? Hope that helps!
layten Posted July 1, 2022 Author Posted July 1, 2022 Geddy, looks like you may have it! All my updates have been done from the “update” button. I will definitely try this first opportunity! i will post results here. Thanks for your assistance! (Interesting that tech support wouldn’t accept a referral to this forum, then they too would have had all this info.) Thanks again, Larry

Yeah, wasn’t on my radar to check since FW/UI didn’t match. But power supply is a step in troubleshooting so glad it was noticed. sadly, I have my ISY behind doors so I don’t see the lights often. They’re so bright though! Glad you got things running again.

Brian H Posted July 16, 2022 Posted July 16, 2022 I have had a few wall warts fail. With my assortment of UDI products. ISY99i and ISY994i. One was so weak when I did a power on reboot. All that happened was the LEDs started to flash in a cycle. I ended up putting a LightDim stick on to reduce the Power LED brightness. I used the original 50% to 80% version.
