Smarthome Select 70278 Water Shutoff integration with Insteon 2450 I/O Relay

I feel like the only Luddite on this forum still installing Insteon units, but my Smarthome Select 70276 water shutoff valve stopped working several years ago.  I later purchased a Smarthome Select 70278 water shutoff valve, which has sat in a box until I finally got around to installing that along with a new Insteon 7450 I/O Linc relay.

My question is, are these valves intended to be used with latching mode on the 7450, or should the action of the relay be momentary (like 20 seconds, which is the apparent open and close action duration) when power is switched between the "open" wire and "close" wire via the 7450?

It would make sense that the unit would need power continuously applied to either wire, and there would be an internal position sensor which would cut off power to the actuator motor - kind of like a garage door opener.  Without that, the valve might incompletely open or close with predictable results.  So I am thinking that I should be using latching mode with this setup.

Thanks in advance for any clarification.

Does the wiring diagram on the side of the unit. Show the voltage is always On one of the two direction wires. With internal limit switches. I don't suppose there was a information sheet in the box?

I tied finding the manual  for it but all I could find was a manual bypass instructions and they said remove the control voltage before using. That would also indicate one direction input has a voltage on it all the time.

Part Number 7450?  Is that maybe a kit ID for all the needed parts? The I/OLinc 2450 in your diagram should be set to continuous relay output. If it needs a voltage on one of the valves control wire all the time.

Only thing maybe a power failure. If the relay is in the on position it will go off but so will the wall wart valve control voltage and go back on when power is restored.

I found the installation information on the up again Insteon support web site.

It did not say anything about changing the 2450 I/OLinc from its default continuous relay output.
