nowandthen Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 (edited) This applies to scenes. For a single device, the brightness displays correctly. I read another thread about excluding other devices to improve brightness calculation. I didn't quite understand what was being said. That thread mentioned a little calculator beside each device in the scene (I'm blind and dense at times). For others, click on your scene name (node). All nodes (to me, devices, device buttons) in the scene are listed. To the right of each node is a little calculator icon. Turn off the nodes that you don't want calculated in the brightness. In my scene, I have 1 light switch, and 3 KPL buttons. The light is at 59% but the percent shown on the button on my favorites screen showed 40%. To correctly show the brightness, I set the 3 KPL buttons to ignore, now only the switch is calculated and it reports correctly. What is the point of Estimated Status? Why would I want to see that? Also, why is it off by 1% at times, even when only one device is used to calculate? These things can drive me nuts. Sorry. Thanks. And thanks for this App. It's much more responsive than the app I was using. Edited August 11, 2022 by nowandthen Added applies to scenes
Javi Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Hi @nowandthen, The issues with the calculation are one of the reasons this is not done in firmware. From a technical standpoint a scene does not have a status and is never on, off, or a percentage. See this issue for more calculation issues and details. With regards to "Why would I want to see that?", some users users want this, others do not. If all calculations are ignored, then there is no calculations, although there is a issue/bug where the last calculated value may remain until the next time the app is open. Having a calculation allows the app to "toggle" the scene on/off instead of having to select the on or off buttons and works well for light/switch only scenes which support values of 0-100 or 0-255. Unfortunately KPLs only report 0 or 255. With regards to a scene being off by 1%, this is the reason it is named Estimated Status. Insteon has on levels of 0-255, most Z-Wave devices have on levels of 0-100. A 1% difference may happen when changing 0-255 to a percentage during rounding. Rounding is calculated by SQL so it may be different then the native ISY rounding calculation for Insteon Switches. 3
