dbuss Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 I use the Virtual node server and have a virtual switch that I would like to expose as a switch in Home Assistant. Can this be done? If so how do I accomplish it? Thank you!

I have a topic on it but it’s pretty stagnant with feedback.

After adding the UDI integration to HA most all of my IoX nodes show up but none of the Virtual switches did. I haven't looked into it so I can't be much help as yet.

The virtual switch shows up in HA. But it shows up as a sensor.
MrBill Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 @dbuss I don't use that node server, so I haven't played with this, but i think you need to use this method outlined in the Universal-devices HA integrations documentation to create custom devices using isy programs. It sort of a duplication of what the node server does, but the node server doesn't give HA the correct node description apparently. I did play with these custom devices way back when i first started using HA, but don't actually use any. I do have some ISY helper programs that exist just so HA can do a few things, via Call Service: isy994.send_program_command and then run_then or run_else

I'm using another device to accomplish what I wanted. I have a Fire TV Cube connected to a non-smart TV. I wanted another way to turn the TV other than asking the Fire Cube to turn on the TV. Rather than use the virtual switch, I'm using a Z-wave plug-in switch to accomplish the task. I'm using state variables that change when the switch is turned off and on. The variables are used in Alexa routines to turn the TV on and off. I'm sure there are simpler methods to accomplish the same thing. But, it was fun getting it all to work. Thank you!
