Triggers and Timers stopped working

Hi:

i had this problem once before and the issue was that the PLM had lost it's links. This time, the links are all still there when I look at the PLM links table. I have re-booted the ISY but not the PLM yet, any suggestions? Scenes all work fine.

Thanks in advance

Hi Glenn,

If you have version 2.7.6 and below, then time might be off (gone to 1941) ... I strongly recommend upgrading to 2.7.12.

If you are already on 2.7.12, would you be kind enough to provide more information:

1. The scenes work ... so it's not the PLM

2. What are the common characteristics of the programs that do not work?

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks for the quick response. I do have 2.7.6 The scenes all work fine, it is the triggers and timers that do not. I have several triggers that are usually a double tap or turn off a switch when the lamp is already off. I will upgrade and see if that helps. The date seems to be correct.

I upgraded and it seems to work fine, the only problem is when I cleared the Java cache I lost my desktop link to the ISY -- also the timers and triggers still don't work. I was able to get into the isy buy using http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/ on the mac I can't access any tabs other than the main tab and when I do it locks up. The same is not true on the PC

Should I try unplugging the PLM and re-setting it?

Thanks in advance

Glenn

Thanks Michel:

That link worked fine to locate the ISY. Now I have another strange issue, the timers and triggers worked last evening, javascript:emoticon('') today the time switched to daylight savings time and the timers and triggers have quit againjavascript:emoticon('')? I checked the diagnostics on the PLM and it appears to be fine?

Hi Glenn,

Can you cut and paste one of the programs that quit working?

This is strange, the triggers and timers worked for a while yesterday in the afternoon and then quit again. They currently don't work. When I look at the program summary there is no "last run" time no "last finished" time and no "next scheduled" time. I have copied a timer and trigger program here - both of these have been working fine for about 2 years:

If

Status 'Bathroom Switch' is Off

And Control 'Bathroom Switch' is switched Off

Then

Set 'Bathroom Switch' 30%

Else

- No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

---------------------------------

If

From Sunset

To 10:30:00PM (same day)

Then

Wait 31 minutes

Set 'Garage Lights' 70%

Set 'Front House Lights' 70%

Set 'Sidewalk Lamp (Entry KPL)' 50%

Set 'Garage Dormer Lights' 75%

Wait 40 minutes

Set 'Sidewalk Lamp (Entry KPL)' 30%

Set 'Garage Lights' 40%

Set 'Front House Lights' 40%

Set 'Garage Dormer Lights' 50%

Else

Set 'Garage Lights' Off

Set 'Front House Lights' Off

Set 'Sidewalk Lamp (Entry KPL)' Off

Hi,

Thanks so very much for the programs. I have three more questions:

1. Please open Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer on level 3 ... then, please turn on/off your bathroom switch. Please let me know if you see any traffic. Especially, I would like to know if the status of your bathroom switch changes in the Admin Console

2. Please let me know if the sunrise/sunset times are accurate on the top portion of the Admin Console

3. Can you turn on/off any device from the Admin Console?

With kind regards,

Michel

Hi

Thanks for your help. First, the timers and triggers are working again. The sunrise/sunset times are off by about 15-20 minutes based on the local weather channel. I was able to turn devices on and off from the admin window but not after running the diagnostic event level 3 per your instructions. When I turned the switch on and off I saw no traffic and the "status" did not change. I am doing this from a mac currently.

I opened and closed the admin console and now I see traffic and can change the status from the console. Here is the log file - (the triggers still work)

Hi Glenn,

Thanks so very much.

Let's take it one step at a time:

1. If sunrise/sunset times are off by 15-20 minutes, then you must choose the correct location for your ISY (Configuration/System tab). Sunrise/sunset times are calculated and must be accurate to within 1 minute

2. If you could not control your devices from the Admin Console, then I am really suspecting that something is blocking the communications with ISY. This is especially the case since you do not see any status updates either

If you cannot discern a pattern for when these timers do not work, then the best thing to do would be to have a simple program that checks the status of your bathroom switch (and send you an email or SMS to your phone). If you do not get the message then we'll use the Event Viewer to see if we are actually seeing the status change in ISY.

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks Michel:

I have selected Toronto, Ontario from the menu (that choice wasn't on the earlier version I don't believe. The sunrise times look to be within a minute or so - I am in Cambridge, Ontario (60 miles west of Toronto)

Today, everything is working. I will have the ISY send me an email everytime the bathroom switch is turned on.

Thanks

Glenn

Hi Michel:

If I check the local weather station the sunrise is off by just over a minute and the sunset by approx 2 minutes. I can't be sure the weather station is correct though?

Everything in still working today.

Thanks

Glenn

Thanks for all your help. Everything seems to be working right now so I will just cross my fingers. I really have no idea what could have caused my problems and I will post again if I have future issues.

I have been using my ISY for a couple of years with very few problems, this was kind of strange. I will also look at my exact Lat/Long but a minute off shouldn't make much difference to me.

Thanks again

Glenn
